I went to my pc doctor because of anxiety and depression which is due to my IC and stress with work and home. He put me on Zoloft 50mg. I am just wonder if it will effect my IC in any way (good or bad)? :dogrun:

I was on zoloft for about 8 years, but recently switched to effexor. I just felt like the zoloft wasn't helping me anymore. It did make a huge difference for a while but after 8 years, I needed something else. So far so good with the effexor....

Hi! I used to take Zoloft (for about 8 years). It did help for a long time with treating my depression/anxiety...however, I too switched about 1 yr ago to Paxil. With a lot of medications, it seems like our bodies start getting "used" to the meds and build up an immunity to their effects. I can't say that the Paxil (or Zoloft) effected my IC symptoms either way. My IC has progressed since my initial diagnosis in 2001. But, meds react differently in everyone as do symptoms.

I am one of the "unusual" people that the IC meds that I take (Elmiron, Flomax, Vioxx, Pyridium Plus, Elavil and Ultrocet) have not done much for me...nor have the cysto/hydros. Unfortunate, but true! Whatever the case, if diagnosed by your doctor and prescribed the medication, it is best to try and find out to see what works for you. Only giving you my experience but whatever you do....work with your doctor and hopefully there are MANY out there that Zoloft has helped with their IC!

i take 100mg Zoloft and it has helped so much. It takes about 2 or 3 weeks to feel better, at least for me. I have been on it for about 3 yrs. Kathy

Hi! I like to refer to Effexor as the DEVIL SPAWN. It worked ok for me...when I missed a dose I turned into this unregoconizable gobilin. (My husband stood with a pitchfork with the kids behind him saying "uh, honey, did you forget a dose?)Seriously, you can't miss a dose and I gained a huge amount of wieght ( When I went off I lost 80 pounds) I was on it for 2 years, Then got type ll diabetes. I knew I had to lose wieght so I decideed to go off Effexor. I had tried to go off if before and had no luck , so I began reducing my 150mg dose by 1/2 every 3 weeks. Each time I did that I felt woozy and had wierd electrical "zaps" to my body. Little migraines begain at 37.5 mg. When I finally got completely off, I started vomiting and had horredous headaches 2 years. (After that I got IC...what a fun world) Docs tried everything, I refused to go back on it because my wieght was so high (220), by this point my wieght was down to 175, blood tests for sugar and cholesetorol were perfect. I just felf like doogy doo because of the IC. However....You gotta do what you gotta do.

:) Take care, all of you.....I didn't mean to get off the subject of lacimal.

Tracey, that was my experience with Elavil. I got the zaps getting off it too, but I lost weight. I switched to Zoloft, but quit cold turkey when I read on another site that SSRIs irritate IC. My bladder was better overnight. I wasn't sleeping, though, and eventually went on Remeron. I take benadryl with it, and it doesn't seem to be hurting my bladder. So to answer your question, if the Zoloft makes you feel like you have a UTI, maybe try an antihistimine with it.

My switch has now been from something else (since the effexor) to now Well-Butrin. (I'm sorry my memory is shot with also taking morphine, valium, Zonegran) I'm always going through the the rolodex in my head, looking for the proper word. OH...something similar to celebrex....

In my opinion, it could be good for depression - but not sure about IC. I tried it when I was blue about all of this bladder stuff, but it made me too hyper. Couldn't sleep.
