New International IC Study Recruiting Patients
There is a new multi-center clinical study actively recruiting patients who have been diagnosed with IC (interstitial cystitis). This study, named “CISTIC”, is evaluating Sodium Hyaluronate (Cystistat) for the treatment of IC. The study is being conducted by Bioniche Life Sciences Inc.
Prospective patients are first screened using the Comparative Cystometry Test which has been shown to identify patients who will respond to Cystistat. The details of this test were published in the September 2003 issue of the Journal of Urology. Patients who meet inclusion criteria will be treated weekly for eight weeks, with follow-up interviews after the treatment phase.
In previous studies, Cystistat has been show to be an effective, safe, and well-tolerated solution for treating the symptoms of IC. Cystistat is an approved treatment for the symptoms of Interstitial Cystitis in the European Union and Canada.
