I am so over joyed I have had three weeks of so little IC symptoms that I think it may be a remission. It happened when I went off my meds for allergy tests I went through terrible withdrawl (we think it was paxil) then started weening off paxil but stopped cold turkey with the others. I started taking some meds after the test but now it is practicly nothing, Atarax at night to help with hives (always get them I am allergic to everything) and it lets me sleep without peeing so much ( I have not slept for most of my life and always got up and down to pee at least 2x a night). I take one pain pill every so often about once a week Tramadol/Ultram but I wonder if IBProffin would work now. I can eat normal foods, although one day I went nuts and ate some much acidic food that I burned mildly. I am getting ready for my period and feeling a bit IC-y again. Pelvic pain and urgency as well as intense lower back pain but I have only taken one pain pill and I still feel pretty good, Is this remission, how do i keep it?

I am anxiuose about my period it is ussuall when my sypmtoms go through the roof. this month so far the pain is mild compared to what I used to go through and the only thing out of the ordinary is that I am having intense food cravings and trouble sleeping.

Let me know what you think????????????
If this is remission I wish I knew how it happened.

Hi Angela, I hope your good feeling lasts. I wish there was a 'recipe' we could all follow to go into remission. Keep us posted on how you're doing. Beth

I have been in remission from IC (I think) and of Pouchitis and it is great! I hope that you continue to feel good! I don't think we always know why we are in remission but you have a bit of a clue as to the change you made so best of luck for continued success!!!!

I think it's great that you are feeling good. A word of caution --- be sure to stick to your diet so you won't flare again.

Warm hugs,
Donna

April 15th I had a cysto/hydro and afterwards I was symptom free.
Then I went to uro for 4 week check and I was so happy to tell how I had my life back again. He said "I'm curious to see how long this will last".
Well I did great through May and June and then went for 3 month recheck in July(still doing great) and he said again....."I'm curious to see how long this will last"....well 2 days later the "twinges" started back up again. Off and on....then the frequency increased....up more times throughout the night again. The urgency is not as strong as before for which I am very grateful.
I am back to taking the pyridium too... and I do get some relief.
Just wanted to share with you all....does anyone know how often you can have a cysto/hydro procedure? I am ready for another one that's for sure.
Hugs to all.......Anita

ICDonna- good idea on the diet I over did it and I am paying for it. When my period came this month I had a mini flare not nearly as bad as before I think I ate too many no nos and on top of my period it caused the problems I am hoping that I feel better soon. I am still not going back on the meds though I just feel better without them. I am tense tonight though and keeping my body tense causes spasms so I think it is time for bed and the heating pad. be well as you can too all. Thanks for the encouragement I will keep posting.
