I started cystoprotek this a.m. I don't hold out a lot of hope for this one because I can't stand the pain of 99% of what I try passing through the bladder. I've tried chrondroitin, quercetin, and GS separately with immediate increase in pressure/pain not to mention anything with sodium in it, but I do have to try every option. From what I read, there's a handful of us that have trouble with anything oral passing through although I'm classed a moderate and no ulcers. I even have this problem with meds. that supposedly don't pass through the bladder. I don't get it and have no explanation for that. Comments or theories anyone? What is this. It's almost like oral meds./supplements inflame nerves as opposed to the bladder.

Are you on an antispasmodic...or have you tried many? I have found that everything bothers my IBS (whish sounds close to what your saying just a diff disease lol) and my antispasmodic med has helped me tollerate more things. I wish you the best of luck with cystoprotek and I hope it helps you .....so sorry that everything seems to bother you. I hope you get relief somehow!!!!!!!

One other thought...it took trying a few antispasmodic untill I found one that fit me.

Yes, have tried anti-spasmodics and they don't help me except during the rare times when I'm having actual spasms. I haven't had much of that since my back surgery, like only once or twice.

Well I bombed. When it started hitting my bladder about an hour to an hour and a half later, I was miserable! I was even having spasms at midnight which I haven't had any since back surgery in March. I only get urethral spasms when something really inflames me. Wouldn't have been happy til I try every option though. I just don't handle things passing through for whatever reason. There seems to be a small sub-set of IC patients in this category and unfortunately I'm one of them.

You know, Cystoprotek made my bladder flare horribly (at only 1/3 the recommended dose) & gave me a rotten migraine the one day I took it.

It's made from shark cartilage. I've just learned I'm allergic to fish & shellfish, so I guess that mystery is solved.

I'm sorry it didn't work out for you either, but didn't want you to feel alone. My doctor & the manufacturer's rep acted like I was weird because my body reacted so badly to it...

Am hoping you feel better soon! Are you the one who posted Almond Milk helps you? If so, go grab a quick glass of it!
Hugs,
Kadi

Yes, thank you. The almond milk wipes out urethral pain and the irritation is gone today after regularly drinking it. Actually I'm having a fairly decent day! As good as it gets for me so won't try anything else today, just going to enjoy :)
