undefinedI have a bladder sling and I am concerned that if they stretch my bladder that it will cause more problems. Has anyone had a Dr. stretch their bladder with a sling on it and could let me know how the surgery turned out. Thanks
Also if you have had a bladder sling done, after the surgery my incision busted open and I couldn't use my legs because of all the infection in my incision. Let me know asap surgery is the 20th.

I have a sling and just had a hydrodistention on July 28th --- my first hydro since the sling surgery. I didn't have any problems.

Is there a difference to the hydrodistetion and the stretching of the bladder. I am asking for a friend of mine who doesn't have access to the internet. I am also curious, I have never heard anything good about stretching the bladder, our IC symptoms and problems are different but I was in bad shape afer my hydro. and dmso treatments, but I know that some people have success so I am trying to not look at it necissarily look at it from my point of veiw. Thanks again for you reply

During a hydro the bladder is stretched. I have had this done many times and it definitely helps my symptoms. I have read that it helps about 50% of IC patients.

My friend had a couple other questions, did doing the surgery or the stretching of the bladder help in the fact that you don't have to follow as strict of a diet or one at all her doctor originally gave her a list of food like we all get but then he told her after the surgery that she probably wouldn't have to follow a diet at all. Also did it help you not have to take any meds any more or cut back. She is currently only on Elmiron and has been only for a month and her dR said he would do the surgery. She is afraid she will loose her job if she doesn't get better soon! Thanks for you time

I absolutely have to follow the diet. Distending the bladder does not change the fact that the IC is there --- I have learned the hard way that ingesting a trigger food or drink will cause pain.

Can someone explain the bladder sling to me? I am stable on elavil but this was never mentioned as part of a treatment.
I have the "bladder sling". It wasn't until after I had the surgery that all !#!! broke loose with my IC. I have had many hydro's since and not had a problem.....
wishing you the very best
