IC and preterm labor?

I just returned from my 32 week checkup with my ob and she brought up something that has me a little concerned. I was discussing how out of control my IC has been during my pregnancy, but especially lately. She mentioned the risk of preterm labor because of my bladder being so irritated, although she went on to say that she was not especially concerned about it with me. I know that UTI's are a cause of preterm labor. Does anyone know a correlation between IC and preterm labor? If an irritated bladder can bring on contractions, then I'm a prime candidate for preterm labor b/c mine stays that way!

I had pre-term labor due to bladder flares, the flares made the contractions worse, and then the contractions made the bladder worse. Good luck and take care.

My ob put me on bed rest 2 1/2 months before my 2nd child was born. I was having terrible abdominal pain for a month before then, but the doc wasn't concerned about the pains unless they started coming on a timed basis. Well, one day at work I decided to time the pains & they were coming every 10 minutes on the dot, so on bed rest I go & I made it until my scheduled c-section at 39 weeks. This was only 6 months before I was diagnosed with IC. Now, when I look back, I wonder if those were bladder contractions & not preterm labor since I'm still having the exact same pains 5 years later.
