I had severe pain after a nerve injection. I also have vaginal cuff neuralgia. It caused a hematoma and my primary gyn found it on a sono. When I called my urogyno - I was informed that he was at a pain conference, they wanted to document this... the on call doc almost killed me with his not so tender exam! Then I had some trouble peeing so they sent me too the hospital after 15 hours of not being able to go. I got there and ALL they were worried about was the hematoma. So after 19 hours they finally straight cathed me and got 975 cc's of urine! After a CATscan they wouldn't help me (you have to drink 900 cc's of liquid) My urogyno got back and told them to put a foley in (1000 cc's as soon as it was put in), write me a script for pain meds and send me home. He called today and said he got info on some new bladder treatments and he said we will try them tomorrow - I am usually his ginea pig for new things. I will let everyone know what he learned on new IC treatments. And he is pushing Ortho to sample Elmiron for low income patients :woohoo:

Oh my gosh!!! You really were retaining urine!! Well, I'm glad that you were cathed and got that taken care of (even though it must have been REALLY painful during the episode!!!), and I am glad your doctor is back... hopefully, now that he is you will be able to benefit from all the new stuff he learned at the conference. :) Please let us know how you're doing and what new stuff you learn...

He suggested that I try interstem or a neurostimulator - slightly different from interstem - it should take care of both problems at once. He said I probably won't be able to pee until the hematoma resolves. Straight cath is the only way to go :ignore: Quite difficult due to ureter spasms!! He says he has more info for next week but due to my mood ( I was crying) he said we will dicuss it all next week!

Oh Sara, my heart goes out to you. Sounds like you are in for some painful days until the hematoma goes away. Whew...hang in there and know that we care.
