okay, multi-vitamins are out because of flares. but i've been taking different supplements to stay healthy because there are so many foods i can't eat.
i know potassium is an issue with IC. but are the supplements a problem? i started taking them the other day because i bruise really easily, and potassium is supposed to help with that. but am i taking a risk for a huge flare?
just curious.

I take a potassium supplement with no problem. And because so many foods that are high in this nutrient are IC irritants, it's not unusual to have a deficiency. However, I do suggest that when you see your doctor, you ask for a blood test to check for any problems.

Of course, ask your Dr for advice. Acidic Vitamin C can be a problem for ICers. Vitamin C is secreted in urine and can be very acidic and painful for us.
I suggest looking for a multivitamin that has a less acidic form of Vitamin C. I did this search for a prenatal vitamin and so far it seems to work for me. Also, you want to avoid dyes and fillers. I've had good success talking to the staff at my local Whole Foods grocery store. Or try to find a good health food/vitamin store near you.

Hi all,
I don't post too often, but then I end up posting under different forums for different things. Anyway, I've given up on the quercitin-glucosimine thing because Alogonot and Cystoprotek didn't help. So now I am trying chlorella (very green pills which are alkaline) and tincture of gotu kola. Has anyone taken these? Gotu kola is an herb that is supposed to grow the GAG lining and it is in this product called Bladder-Q (which also has other herbs I don't want to take yet because I'm also taking an athritis herbal formula and too many herbs at once scare me). Has anyone tried Bladder-Q (by bladderhealth.com)? I'm also trying to get IC people to go to Remedyfind.com and actually rate anything you've tried for IC. So far it looks like diet is at the top of the list for helping.
