I take prelief before eating acidic foods, but I hear other taking about it as if it were a pain mediation. Does Prelief make something like this? I'm sorta confused...I was always under the impression that it just takes the acid out of foods and drinks...?

It just helps reduce the acid in foods. Some people do find that helps significantly.

It takes the acid out of food yes....but it is calcium....a natural acid killer....so if your stomach or body is just overly acidic (like mine and a few others) it helps a lot for our flares and inbetween meals. Prelief is a product not a company.....when we talk of Prelief as a pain reliever it is because it does help some of us with our flares. It isn't a pain reliever though.
I hope that helps you understand.

I have found it does help (I personally have a hard time remembering to take it though ). It’s about $10 for a bottle of 120 tablets and is over the counter. I would ask your Dr. if they have free samples you can try. I try to take it before I eat anything, not just acidic foods. If I know something is acidic I will take 2 extra tablets. I did not think it was helping for a while, but now I notice when I don’t take it I end up with more bladder pain.
It also is great for people who are prone to heartburn. It helps with that too. I recommend it, and it doesn’t have any negative known side effects, so it’s worth a shot.

so, even when you arent about to eat something acidic, you can take it to reduce the acid in your system??

For me, yes it seems to help with all foods. I have less bladder pain when I take it before every meal / drink. Like I said, I do notice a difference when I do not take it prior to a meal. Everyone’s body is different though…
They also have a power formula which you can pour into acidic drinks (like coffee or alcohol) or sprinkle on foods. My Mom uses the powder formula in her drinks because she gets terrible heartburn from most everything – and says it does not alter the taste. I’m not sure if you can taste it if you sprinkle it on your foods. I have never seen the power formula in drug stores, but my local Walgreens drug store ordered it for my Mom.

I am also taking Prelief especially before acidic type foods. However, I still avoid taking any cranberry juice at all. I also requested from FARR Labs a sample bottle of CystaQ which has natural anti inflammatory ingredients. I'm not sure how long that is suppose to take effect. I don't think the Prelief works on all types of food for me since I am still getting pelvic/urethra pain at various times.

Get this one. The nurse in recovery after my cys/hydro brought me cranberry juice! I didn't know any better then so drank it. Sort of like twisting the knife in the bladder. I sure will mention it to the doc when I see him next. Linda

I've been having a flare up for the past month, after not having much problems for a year or so. I didn't know Prerelief might help in general.
I just got 4 tablets out of my purse and took them. I'm crossing my fingers for some relief today.
