Hello 20's college students, I see the new semester is almost ready to begin. I wanted to see how you all are doing? Ready to begin again? How was everyones summer? I can't wait to hear all about it. I hope you guys are doing well. I'm praying for you all. I am starting my third year of college and if I can help anyone in anyway, or anyone else that has imput, please feel free to ask questions. I know some of you are getting ready to start your first year, So much fun. If you need help to talk to your teachers or anything like that...let help each other out. I don't want anyone to be alone, and quit...because of ic. I love you guys dearly. HUGSSSSSS forever... :)

I'm not really ready to go back to school, but I have to, I hope this year I would be worried about my studies. Less time at the doctors office. I'm doing okay, I might be abit sick, but not sure yet. the test results will be in monday...soooo far away. My summer was one I will never forget. I went to Thailand for two months I was able to teach english to college students. I got to go up country and help build a lunchroom for a school.

Love, Kiyoka

Hi!
I'm just starting my first year of college...I leave Monday actually. I'm off to Drake University in Des Moines. While I'm extremely excited about it, and I have doctors already set up there, I'm really scared because of the IC. I've been in a flare for 4 months, which is the longest I've ever had and it just feels like it's never going to go away. Plus, I'm not in a relationship but I have a feeling college will bring that...and I'm not capable of any kind of intimacy. I'm really not, at all. I have before but that was before I ever had IC and now I can't do [I]anything[I]. It's awful. But anyway, good luck to those going to college. I'm looking forward to it, I just hope I can function despite the IC.

Hello fellow friends, one thing if you have Kiyoka praying for your behalf she has it covered, I have not yet met her but I hope to soon, she has helped me soooo much and I love her for that!! She is a very wonderful person who cares deeply for her family here on the network.
I will not be going back to school until I find out if I wiil recieve SS benifits, but I really want to go, perhaps having my mund on something other than myself and the pain of IC woulf lighten things up, then again I am scared to death about how I will function, I barely get the bills paid out each month
I too hope you are all well !!
Hugs

I start in 2 weeks. This semester I just have two clases, back to back, on Tuesdays from 4:00 pm to 9:40 pm !!!! Frankly, I'm more worried about falling asleep in class than the IC! Plus it means I'll have to eat dinner at school, which is never any fun.

Kiyoka - it sounds like you had a very fulfilling summer, making some money and helping others~!

Hi I'm Kristin
I'm going into my senior year of college. I found out I had IC in Aug 2003 and it really effected my school work. My IC has gotten worse since last semester so I'm scared it will effect my graduation date. I had to push it back one year due to my IC and I just want to finish college and go to law school. I'm just afraid I'll never be able to go to law school with IM because it is so demanding. I go to school in Iowa and I live in Chicago so it is hard to take care of my IC and school.

Dear Kristin, thanks for the reply. I know I wish it wasn't so hard to do school and ic. I almost quit school last summer because of my ic. What treatments are you on? What school do you go to in Iowa? You will finish and get into the amazing law school..I know it. Please let me know if I can help ya.

Thanks for the support. I go to St. Ambrose Unverisity. I've tried everything. I did pelvic floor thearpy, Interstim , elavil, hydrodistension and now botox. I won't know for a few more days to see if it worked. So how is your IC? where do you go to school? I hope things are going well for you. I wish you a good semester.

Hey Kristin, that is soooo great. I'm happy your flare is letting loose. I have not tried botox..just dmso. I'm okay, I guess..I been hurting a whole lot. I don't think it's all from my ic. I bein crying a whole lot lately. I am having some test done tomorrow..then I will have to wait 11 days for the labs to be back. sooooo long..grrr abit upset..I wish they would check everything out all at once instead of six test and wait and six more...I might have a infection..but I have to do the test before I can take any antiboitics..:( the sadness rolling into my eyes. I am trying to work hard on my grades..but it's only the first week of school..haven' had very much homework yet. I hope all is well and stays as well for you my dear friend...I hope you keep up with whatever makes you feel better.

Hugs,

:) My sister,

I hope you are getting over the episodes that have been causing you so much pain, I know you do not suffer alone, I pray for all of us who feel this pain, you are always included in my prayers.
I am grateful for your friendship, your call enlighted my very dark days since I had spoken to you last. I am a better person for having known you!! Miss Kiyoka you are a blessing and I love you for that!!
You will do well in anything you set your mind to, it seems the problems that come your way willl always pass because of your great fortitude and ability to fordge on, by caring for others like you do. You are collecting blessings so plentiful you cannot imagine, they will come as sure as the sun willl shine.
Use these sometimes unruely and dreaded IC experiences as launching pads and reach for the sky!
Always a friend,
Jessica

Today is going well. How about you? I can feel a flare coming because my period is coming. I've never tried DSMO I've done elmiron and heparin instills. How is the DSMO?I heard it was painful. I'm in the mood to take a nap but I have class til 5. So my bed will have to wait. Are you tired alot like I am? I do have more energy after the botox but I still feel the need to take a nap.

Kristin, that is great well days don't came all the often in my life. I hope that your flare that is coming doesn't last for a long time. Dmso is pretty good in my book. The first time it didn't hurt at all. the second-sixth it hurt, but only for a few second to get in the catha. I'm always tired, I think I will go take a nap too. Could you tell me abit about Botox, I really don't even know what they do..or what it is? I hope your tireness goes away sooon.

Kiyoka-

They do a cysto and inject botox in the bladder wall. In my case 27 injections only painful for the first fews days but they give you lots of drugs in case it hurts more. It takes 2-4 weeks to see the full effect botox has on your bladder. In my case nothing else worked so I went for the botox and it is amazing. No more instills or interstim. Ask your doctor if you would be a good pateint to try it. I was. Just something else to keep in mind. My insurance paid for surgery but I paid $480.00 for the actual botox. Some insuance will cover the botox too. Take care of yourself. I hope you enjoyed your nap yesterday. I';m going to taje my nap at 3:00 once I finish work study.

Hey Kristin, I hope your nap went well. sorry it took so long to reply. Wow are you sure the botox doesn't hurt? Any side effects. Things are working with dmso, so I think I will stick with it, until it stops working. How are classes going? I hope all is well for you, I can't wait to hear back from you. I really do enjoy being able to ask you these question...hugs

Hello Chelsey, How are you doing? I know exactly what you mean by not having a summer. Three classes is a lot for the summer. If you need any help with anything, we are here for you. What is your major.

Chelsey-

Hi. I'm Krsitin. I'm in my last year of college. Summer is suppose to be fun but I had alot of surgeries so my fun was staying in all summer. Hang in there. Things will get better. I just tried botox on Aug 11, which is what is helping me alot. I feel like I've gotten my life back in a way. I hope this year for you will be flare free and allow you to do your best in class. I know how hard it is, we all do here so if you need help just let any of us know. We are stronger together than divided. We all need a little support sometimes so don't hesitate to ask for it.
