Hi there. I've been taking Librax for 11 years for my IC, and it has worked great. The other treatments I've tried have not worked, so I am pretty hesitant to change anything. Problem is that I have mild asthma that doesn't respond to therapy. My asthma doc thought I might have asymptomatic GERD, which can make asthma worse. I had a VERY bad reaction to the GERD meds, including a bladder infection and rebound reflux. Long story short: the more I research librax, the more I see that asthma and heartburn are possibly side effects. Has anyone else had a similar experience? I know this is minor compared to some problems, but I can't eat anything without heartburn. I would appreciate any advice. Thanks! Trink

Trink,
My mother has GERD and irritable bowel syndrome. She takes one librax everynight before she goes to bed. We thought it may have been giving her some urinary retention as she just had gyn surgery as well. However; when she was off the librax for 5 days she got the abdominal bowel pain so back on librax again.

Thanks, Vicky. I logged onto the IBS site, too, because Librax is commonly used to treat IBS. Someone replied that Librax does cause GERD. Oh, well--a least I don't have IC symptoms with the Librax. Have an appt. to talk to a different dr. who seems to know a little more about pharmacology. Hope your mother does OK with her meds. Thanks so much for the reply! Trink
I have had the same problem with different drugs. I have been on Neurontin for years and started having pancreatitis. I stopped taking the Neurontin on a hunch and the pain in my pancreas is alot better. It's making me nuts because I was taking the Neurontin as a mood stablizer and the depression is back, along with headaches but I can't go back on the Neurontin :dizzy:
