Hi Everyone, this is the first day since my operation on Wednesday that I have felt well enough to write. On Wed my uro/gyn performed a lap/cysto/hydro and bladder installation of marcaine/heparin under a general.

The procedure itself went fine, thanks for the good thoughts and prayers! Unfortunately I was intensely sick from an allergic reaction to an antibiotic the night before and then sick from the anesthetic.

They gave me 3 types of different anti-nausea meds through IV and nothing helped. I spent the next 12 hours vomitting and dry heaving in the recovery room. It was just terrible. I really thought I was gonna die. They decided to admit me late in the day, but I just begged them to let me go home. I'd had nothing to eat or drink the eve/night before and then nothing again that whole next day so I was v. weak.

I managed to eat a rice cake on the way home from hospital which helped but was still ill that night and had nausea for the next 48 hrs after.

My uro/gyn finally spoke to me on Friday about what she found. Apparently I have a growth behind my right ovary that they biopsied and am waiting for the results. I also have a lot of scar tissue they think from a botched laparoscopy I had as a teenager. Basically, I have things attached to other bits that shouldnt be there. I saw photos of my bladder and I have no ulcers (thank God) but have the red glomerations and some muscle damage from straining during urgency and frequency.

I still have my lymph procedure to do and am now having 2nd thoughts. I dont think I can go through another general anesthetic.

So, that's where things are at right now. I hope that everyone who had procedures last week are ok! Take care and let me know how you're doing!

If I ever have another cysto I'm gonna go for a spinal and think I would have this time if I didnt need the lap.

I know the feeling. When I had surgery in November I ended up spending extra time in the hospital because the vomiting just wouldn't stop. And it's one reason I have a spinal if at all possible. One thing that I suggest is that you be sure to tell the anesthesiologist that you easily become nauseated from anesthesia --- if you need a general again. There are things they can to do help avoid this.

Warm hugs,
Donna

I used to get really sick from anesthetics.. But the last two times I told the anethisist that I got sick from it and they gave me something to prevent the nausea. It worked and I felt good when waking up.. No nausea...!!!
Hope you feel better really soon
