For some of us it really does. I am able to have sex now with no flaring. Occasionally a weird position or something will leave me a little flared the next day, but I am usually just fine. :) Hang in there!

Yeah, I feel your pain... sex can be a big trigger for me too :(

However, hubby and I have found that using a lot of lube and certain positions can minimize the discomfort.

You'll find things that help you too. Unfortunately it is a 'trial and error' thing and it's different for everyone -- so just try to be patient and give yourselves time to work things out.

It gets better, I promise :)

Hi Bridgette Swan. I'm sorry to hear of your flares from sex. I also get flares from sexual activity. I too suggest trying different things. My husband and I find if we take things slow and gentle it's not too bad. Sometimes being slow and gentle increases are intimacy.

I would also talk to your doctor to see what suggestions they might have.

I've tried using the bathroom before and after sex. That helps. Also, at times I will take a pain pill before or after. This may sound strange but do you practice safe sex with your partner? I've been told by my ob/gyn that I could be allergic to condoms, but, on the other hand if we don't use one his semen burns so badly. Maybe this could be affecting you as well? Just a suggestion. Good luck! :)

Have you done a search within this forum for sex and flares? There have been many threads addressing many ways to help prevent flares but you have to search for them.

I hear you! Every time hubby and I have sex I am literally in agony for the rest of the day. I don't think it helps that I have constant thrush from my antibiotics. We only have sex in the morning so that I can go to the loo as often as I like because I am terrified of getting infections. Still doesn't work sometimes.

Question: I am on macrodantin every night to prevent infections. (100mg) If we have sex in the morning will the antibiotic still be active or should I take another just in case??

Hate that I can't have a "normal" sex life.

Take comfort that we are not alone, I guess.

Sara

I'm also taking the Macrodantin to prevent infections, at night, although mine are only 50mg and I've been UTI-free for 4 months despite plenty of sex in the morning. Antibiotics stay in the system for 12 hours so unless you've been sleeping for 12, you should be fine.
