Hi! I don't know if any of you have experienced this but I had my first PT session yesterday and had a terrible flare last night. The PT did not even really touch me. All she really did was teach me some breathing/relaxing techniques and a few exercises...I did do a few keagels.. I thought that may of done it but.... I have another session tomorrow and I am worried that it may happen again. I spoke with her today and she assured me it is just a coincidence but I am not so sure...
Anyone with any thoughts???

This is so wierd. I went last week and did a bit of therapy. SHe however did a complete exam and put her whole hand in me and touched everything she could. I felt horrible the next few days. then I had a decent day but yesterday was horrible, I was in bed at 630p with horrible pressure. I wonder if it is coincidence or what?

I have that experience sometimes when I do my excersizes...if she isn't taking you seriously she is the wrong therapist for you. Show her theese post .....PT can cause a flare! So sorry.

Well...I had my second session today...I guess I will see how I am tonight. She insists that anything she did with me could not possibly cause any harm. LOL
I have just about had it with IC, PFD, PT....not in a great mood...

Doing kegels always flares me up. In fact, PT of any sort has always flared up my back, neck, whatever I was working on.

Sometimes PT does flare me up for approx 24-48 hours afterwards (depends on the work we do). Then I usually get relief and notice a difference. I think that sometimes the work and manipulations they do can cause a short term increase in pain. But usually I notice the benefits afterwards.
I also find that it's very helpful for me to go for a walk after PT. Even if it's just strolling around the mall or grocery store. And drink lots of water (well as much water as is comfortable for you to drink). Just like getting massages, drinking water helps.
Be sure to communicate with your therapist. I've also noticed that there are some days that I leave PT feeling much better than when I got there and the benefits continue for days. Again it will depend on where your aches and pains are and what types of therapy she performs on you.
