Hi everyone,

Haven't been around as much lately b/c I am getting married and have been super busy with the planning. The stress has taken a toll on my bladder.

But I wanted to report that I have been using a TENS unit for pain relief (pressure not burning) off and on over the past 6 weeks or so and it really helps me. It relieves most of the pressure feeling while I have it on and usually provides an hour or so of relief after I turn it off. This has allowed me to take less pain meds and I am grateful for that.

I got the presciption for the TENS unit at the pain clinic (my uro referred me) and then I purchased a unit on-line. I'm really glad I gave it a try b/c it is another option for me now besides just pain meds. It might work for others here too.

I'm really glad to hear that! My uro was going to give me an Rx but she preferred that I visit the PT clinic first, to get some exercises and the TENS unit. I haven't called yet but I will.

Hi Nicole,

I'm so glad to hear the TENS unit is helping you! I know we haven't chatted in a while --- I hope the wedding plans are going well. Hope you have more pain-free days!

Thanks for you replies, ladies. I'm glad the TENS works too. Sometimes it is inconvenient to use, but I am really happy to have another option beyond pain pills. I'm glad I pursued the TENS unit with my uro. I want to exhaust all non-invasive options for my IC. I've been through most of the standard medications without great results....still don't feel like I have my life back. I'm not expecting a complete remission of my symptoms....I just don't want to have to take pain meds all the time.

Thanks for the wedding well-wishes poetgirl! I am hanging in there, planning like a mad woman. I'm getting excited and nervous...only a month to go!

Wow, only a month to go! How exciting! Definitely a fun -- yet stressful time! Definitely do what you can to take care of yourself so that you and your soon-to-be hubby have a perfect day. I agree with you that any day you can go without taking pain meds is good; hopefully that will help you feel like you can lead a relatively normal life and have more control over your situation.

Definitely will have to give us details on your wedding! I always love to hear GOOD news! :)
