Hello all,
I got my IC dx in April, and have been on Elmiron since late April.I just had my second distention. This one was done by a different uro, same office though. He said that my bladder looked a little better since my DX in April, and he got my bladder to 800 cc's, where as in April it was either 400 or 600 cc's under anesthesia.(Do not quite remember) Could the Elmiron be actually working? I am still in pain though. Can your bladder look better and still be in the same pain as you were before?? The first uro I had that did the first distention I swear was not very educated about IC, this one is head of IC research here.Maybe he just knew what he was doing more so than the other Dr ? Could I really be maybe getting better already? Even though I do not feel like it, I am on pain meds most of the time to get by.I have pictures this time, but nothing to compare it to, cause the first time they did not give me any.Heck they barely told me nothing.Hence why I switched uro's so fast.

My bladder was 450 in April.I guess no one is gona respond though to this question.I talked to my uro about it and he said that it probably looked better since it had not been that long since my last distention, and that the fact it looked a little better did not mean anything.

I have been on elmiron about the same amount of time and have noticed a huge difference. My only problems right now are flares from mid-cycle until I start my period.
Good luck to you!

I haven't noticed any difference taking Elmiron & I have been on it for 5 months, if anything I have been feeling worse, especially the past month or two. I also have had 6 weeks of DMSO & now monthly since March 1st.

Goes to show how different we all are..... he told me he did not think the elmiron was helping me yet, and I guess I agree since I have been in a flare since the end of June non-stop.I guess I was just getting hopeful.I have just now been on it 3 months.I take it religously.....will keep hoping and praying I guess.

I could swear Elmiron is helping me, and I've only been on it 6 weeks. Today I feel so-so, but yesterday I only "peed" 6 times in 24 hours! My pain is steadily decreasing, and my frequency is too.

Daniel, when I first started taking Elmiron, it helped me within 2 weeks. Of course, it helped greatly (I forgot I had IC) for five months except for near my periods, but here I am in a 3 month flare despite increasing my Elmiron, despite hydrodistention, despite everything.

Blessings, Lori

I'm sorry Lori, but I will heed your warning. I am not overly optimistic about Elmiron being the "be-all-end-all" solution. I only know that lately I feel pretty decent.

Hi, Daniel, please, I didn't mean to scare you. I believe that the Elmiron is working for you right now, and will continue to work better and better. I think I am just really a freak patient, because it stopped working for me. I never even heard of it stop working for anyone before, I have no idea what the problem is with my body.

Blessings, Lori
