I just recently came out of an, almost, 4 year remission and am experiencing none stop spasms with pressure in my bladder. Does anyone have any tips on how to ease the discomfort?
Thanks : )

Christine,
Have you tried Ditropan because that certainly helps me... Hope you feel better real soon.. heating pad or ice pak is a comfort too.

Have you considered an anti-spasmodic drug?

I found that the beyond bodi heat packs on ICN Shop help alot fo that. They are ultra thin heat packs that stick to your underwear and no one even knows you are wearing it. It will stay hot/ warm for at least 12 hours . try one. ICN shop has it plus beyond bodi heat has its own website. The shipping is cheaper from their website but takes longer to get in the mail.

I have a lot of pressure, spasms, and frequency too. These symptoms have gotten worse for me over time. The 2 meds that help are percocet (pain med) and the oxytrol patch (anti-spasmodic for frequency/urgency/spasms). It is the the same medicine as ditropan (pill) but in a patch. Both of these help alot. I also take elavil and hydroxyzine.
The IC diet can help with this too (low acid) and also taking prelief (over the counter med) with questionable food.
Have you seen your uro yet? I hope you will find some relief soon!

there are a list of anti spasmodic drugs in the patient hand book....

Unfortunatly sometimes you have to try different ones till you find the one that works for you. Ditropan didn't help me but Hyoscyamine Sulfate did, go figure.
Anyway good luck ....I hope you feel better soon.

Hi Christine, good luck with your doctor and your bladder spasms. The other members have given some great advice regarding medication suggestions, heating pads and things of that nature. I would also suggest wearing comfortable, breathable cotton underwear and loose comfy pants. You might do this already, but sometimes just sitting in the bathroom helps me a bit. It's like my bladder knows where I am. Otherwise I lay on my back with a pillow under my knees for some elevation. Or, I'll lay on my side with a sturdy pillow between my knees. Good luck! :)
