Just curious. Do you think that my urologist will have knowledge of Atarax as a possible treatment if I ask him about it?

if you are worried about him not knowing about this treatment copy him some information on it and take it in with you on your next visit.
Hope all goes well for you
sending you hugs and prayers

Its odd, my uro, who is the top IC specialist in Charlotte NC doesnt know about vistaril/atarax either. I have explained to him all the benefits, the calming effect, the facts on how it can help IC symptoms, etc. I think when I am in the hospital again I will beg him for it and get more bang for my buck with the calming effect, being able to sleep better and more consistently, etc, PLUS its CHEAP!!! Rhonda has a great idea, bring him some info from the web, put it in his face and dont leave til he reads it, then perhaps he will be more cooperative.
Take care, Sandy

Well I have been to three doctor's regarding my IC and support group meetings...My first uro diagnosed me with IC and put me on Atarax, my second doctor is an "IC Specialist" and it is part of his first line of treatment...I also go to a urogynocologist and he is in agreement that I should be on it...and the uro that runs the support group also uses it in his treatment of IC....
I think what I am trying to say if your uro does not know about it...he should..I agree..bring some printouts from this website about its benefits in case it is not something your urologist treats his patients with.
