Hi,
Do not know if anyone will get to this tonite, but I am scheduled for a distention tommorow, and I had bronchitis that has taken me a month to get over, and my lungs still sound pretty icky.Went to NP yesterday and she said no infection but I should re-schedule, I went to respitory therpaist, and she suggested re-scheduling also.I told URO office what is up, but I wanted to make that decision up to the anesthialogist.I am a bit wheezy, and they RT said I was having bronchospasms, she thinks I have asthma.I do smoke, I had planned on quitting after I go through this distention.I have been doing 4 breathing treatments a day, and am on flo-vent but I just started that this am.Has anyone not been able to be put under cause their lungs sounded bad?

Let us know what happened... I'm asthmatic too, but my asthma is pretty well under control (although right now I'm getting worse because I've got a cold). At my distention I was not wheezing or anything, so I had no problems. I know if you're asthmatic they have to adjust things about the gas-type anesthesia and pay closer attention to you... I don't know if you'd actually have your procedure cancelled if your disease was very active at the time. The anesthesiologist should be able to make that decision. Again, let us know :)

Hi all,

I have been in a bad flare since 6-29, so ya definitely I do not want to re-schedule this.I been looking forward to it.I have a new uro Doc, he is a respected IC specialist, and I believe is head of the IC research here.He has been dealing with IC patients forever, in fact he is retiring this year.I have high confidence in him.He is great. My first uro doc told me my IBS was causing my pain, even tho she is the one who DX me with IC! Very ignorant, and would not give me any pain meds.I know the differnece between IBS cramps, and bladder pain geesh!!! My first distention did not help pain, or atleast I am not certain cause it was when I was DX.But, I did notice alot of improvement with the freq/urgency.I can take things for pain, but I failed anti-chloregenics,cause they make my voiding issues worse. They are also putting in DMSO, and dilating my urethra.I REALLY NEED THIS BAD! I hope my lungs do not prevent it, although of course I do not want to end up with pneumonia or worse cause of the anesthesia.Cross your fingers!
Will come back later tonite, although I may be a little goofy ;)

I hope they will find a way to do it. Will you have a spinal? or a general anesthetic? I'll be waiting to hear.

Warm hugs,
Donna

I don't know, last time they did general, but this is a different uro.I have never had spinal, I do not think I would go for that! I know my epidural when I was in labor never took all the way...........

Wishing you good luck on your procedure, I hope that you won't have a problem with the lungs or anything.

Blessings, Lori

They went ahead and did it, my lungs sounded clear! :woohoo:
My urethra hurts tho,and it is burning somewhat.
My bladder is crampy but I am on my cycle too.
He said my hemmorages looked better since my first distention in April when I got the DX.
And my bladder capacity went from 600 to 800 from last distention.(under anesthia)
Maybe the emiron is starting to heal it up a bit.
Atthough pain wise it has been bad, but sometimes I think that pain varies from person to person, even though mine may be mild compared to others. I still have a lot of pain most of the time.
I was running a low grade temp of 99.3 when I got there, I feel like I am burning up now.I think it was the demerol they gave me before I left though.I hope......I cannot find my thermometer anywhere in this house.
Ok, I am gonna go rest, and sleep off this anesthia.
Will check in later tonite or tommorow.
Thanks everyone!!!!!

Hey all,
I felt pretty darn good yesterday, and did way to much around the house and went to the grocery.I think I will be taking it easy today, my back is killing me and my bladder is crampy.

Take care all,
Char
