Angela,
I guess it is just another brand name for Pyridium.. I was hoping it would be different.. Pyridium makes me way too sick and I can't take it!!!! Yuck.. It did work for the pain though and that is why I wish I could find something that worked like that but did not make me so sick....

Hi,
Did the pyridium make you sick to your stomach? I only take it with food (something starchy) or it gives me nausea...

Kadi,
Yes, the Pyridium would start nauseating me within half an hour or so... I would throw up and feel horrible for hours then it would wear off.... I tried to take it with food and two Gravol ( anti-nausea stuff) but that did not help either so my Dr said not to take it anymore..
Just curious if this AZo has exactly the same ingredients??? From what I have read it does...

Pam,
Have you tried urimax? I tried the pyridium and it did nothing for me, but my new uro put me on urimax 4x a day and I can tell a difference.

It's one of the "silly" regulations made by the FDA --- you can buy low dose pyridium (AZO) over the counter, but the higher doses require a prescription.
Urised, which is a prescription, is different and you might be able to tolerate it.

Donna

Thanks everyone,
I will see if either is available in Canada...or when I go to my hometown on the border of Vermont I will go over to the pharmacy in Newport and see if they have it..
and will be stocking up on Prelief too..Thanks

You can also see if they carry Cystex. It relieves pain and burning, but the nice thing about it is that it doesn't have dyes that stain the urine, like Pyridium, AZO and even Urised do. I can't take Pyridium or AZO either -- makes me feel weird and the orange/red dye irritates my urethra.

I take the over counter AZO with every flare and it helps me.....knowing there is a presciption strength form is definatly something I want to try.
AZO is on my list of pain relief for IC.
