i am at the end of my rope with this whole medical proccess! all i want is relief!!!!! and an answer to the very real exscrutiating pain that keeps me awake at night. when i can sleep it is usually with a heating pad on my left upper side. it feels like a stabbing, twisted, pulling pain, the kind of pain that takes your emotions over the edge! its the pain that you cannot control! i have now been through 3 doctors, every test imaginable, just recently colonoscopy, and catscan. colonoscopy revealed the alien i have hanging out of my butt when i have a bowel movement lol. i thought my insides where coming out of my rear. it is an internal hemmeroid. so thats the answer to that. then i have this horrible bloody mucus that presents itself in my bowel movements. (there is no infection) but, there is proctitis, so that explains that. i was prescribed canasa suppositories wich i had a reaction too, and had to stop that. still the pain keeps coming! its located between my hip bone and my ribbs always in the same place the left side, so the doctor ordered the catscan because he says the pain is to high up to be contributed to the recent findings. well, the results have come in and the catscan is fine. i should be so happy about this except i am still left with unexplained severe pain. the doctor is now prescribing zelnorm, as i have explained to him i have taken this before with no success. he is suggesting i try taking it 2x a day and see what happens. now i find myself questioning my pain. is he thinking its all in my head? is it all in my head? and i will make myself believe this until it presents itself again and i am doubled over in my bed with my fist in my stomache on the left side. this is such a vicious cycle! maybe i just have'nt given my ibs enough credit on how painful it can truly be. if this is the case please give some advice on what is helpful for some of you, i know with the ic i could not have survived without the advice and strategies i use on a daily basis. in the meantime i will wait patiently to hear from someone who might have some advice for me.
thanks in advance!

I'm sorry you're in so much pain. It's not in your head just like IC isn't something us "hysterical" woman have fabricated! I really hope they find something to help you soon. I was perscribed Nulev for my bladder but I've heard it is used for IBS? It hasn't helped my symptoms. I'm sorry I don't know what to tell you (especially since I'm still going through the diagnosis process). I hope you find relief soon. Take care - Chris  :grouphug:

I would agree you haven't given IBS all the credit it deserves....or atleast that is my docs diagnosis for my symptoms exactly like yours after a billion tests......gas is what the problem seems to be and I have been given Hyoscyamine to take everytime I eat...I have also taken beano and extra strength equate gas releif....and pepto bismo when all else fails. So definatly let me know if you find a better answer.
Hope that helps.
Take Care

thank you all for your responses, as crazy as this may seem, i am so determined to get to the bottom of all this! i really think all of this is linked together..........starting with the prolapse. i feel as though this may be backing up my bowels, i have to stay on stool softners to be able to pass my stool. so maybe thats where some of my pain is coming from. i have shown the prolapse to my mother and she says it definately does not look like an internal hemmeroid. it really looks like my rectum is coming out. unfortunately it only presents itself when i have a bowel movement, so the doctor has not seen what comes out. i am so determined to get to the bottom of this i actually had my mom take polariods of this awful sight to bring with me on my next visit.
actually i had never seen it either! just felt it yuk! yuk! and believe me it looks worse than it feels, i thought i would freak! when i saw it!!!!!!!!! but, atleast i have real evidence to show this time..........the saying ( a pictures worth a thousand words!)lol
this is sooooooooooo true!
i'll keep you all posted:toosh:
 i'll appreciate all the prayers you all can send up! and i'll keep all of you in my prayers as well!
God Bless!
