I feel so bad for my mom. Her youngest greyhound, Daisy, lost a toenail a couple of months ago. She would bleed occasionally, but it would always stop on its own. Last week the bleeding started again, but this time it kept on bleeding-thru all the bandages and tape, all over the carpet. My mom took her into the vet and they found an infection. The vet thinks it came from the floor mat outside the house. So poor Daisy had to have all of her nails removed and the pads on her paws cut off so as to get rid of what might be a fungus. She's on antibiotics to try to rid of the infection. The worst thing is that if the infection cannot be cleared up by antibiotics, my mom needs to consider having her put down. I know this just breaks her heart. She's had Daisy for 7 years and her older grey, Disney, (yes-named after Walt Disney World) for 11 years.

I sure hope her doggie gets well. I know how much we love our "babies" --- and having one put down is horrible.
Sending gentle hugs and prayers,
Donna

:( Poor Daisy & all who love her. I hope that the antibiotics work for her. Maybe IV antibiotics would work better (assuming she's on pills). If the round of pills doesn't help, then I would request an IV as the next step.
Hugs,
Karma
I hope and pray her dog gets well. It is so hard to see an animal we love in pain, and they are so much a part of our lives. Please let us know how Daisy is doing, prayers for Daisy, and your mum, hugs Iris.  :grouphug: :flower:

Thanks all. It's hard to see my mom upset like this-but a few days have gone by and she's not as bad. I think Daisy will be okay. :)
I had to put my greyhound to sleep a year ago, she was 121/2 yrs. old. Your moms dog has alot of years left. Kathy

That's a long time! My parents took her in today and her medication is costing them $276 a WEEK! So much for the $20 a day I was told before.

Awe I hope she gets better. I have such a soft spot in my heart for animals. It is a shame that it is so costly to help our animals. Sending lots of hugs - Chris :grouphug:
