I got an appointment right away, for 10:20 this morning, which was wonderful.
Then he listened to me, really believed me when I talked about my symptoms, and asked me if I'd be willing to undergo a hydrodistention! Isn't that wonderful? I am so happy! Because I think I might get a couple weeks of remission out of it, which would be great! Maybe even longer if I'm lucky, who knows?
Anyway I am scheduled for a hdyrodistention on this Tuesday, and hopefully they will get lots of photos of my bladder taken etc. I have to remember to get the old photos out of the X-ray storage room so they can compare. I'm hoping the photos will show how my IC has progressed, because I know it's gotten worse since I was diagnosed 4 1/2 years ago. My biggest fear is he'll look and say "it's all in your head, your bladder looks fine to me" LOL but surely if they saw all the glomerulations last time, they will see them again this time...
You know what is weird? Now that I have the hydro scheduled, my bladder is starting to feel better. Must be the relief or something, a body/mind connection!
Oh and he gave me a consult to a uro/gyn to go see if the endometriosis is impacting my bladder, etc...just to see what else we might do.
And I'm still going to the pain clinic on 27 July.
And he gave me a script for 50 Percocet, which I am going to try very hard to save for my trip to Montana (12 days total) from 2 August until 12 August so that I can be functional then. I mean, I can sort of handle being housebound when I am not required to ride in a car, on the plane, stand in long lines, etc. or be sociable. It's THOSE times that I need the meds the most, really. So I will do my best to save them for that time. Plus maybe I will get enough relief from the hydrodistention, maybe I won't need the pain pills for awhile, god-willing!
He said I could go ahead and go up to 3 Elmiron 3 times a day!!! Just to see if that would help some.
I really got the feeling he believed me, and cared. That was so nice!
He's not too optimistic about a cure coming soon for IC, though. He said there's been a lot of false hope over the last 30 years, the same story over and over, they think there is a cure but then....
Anyway he's such a great doctor! Really everyone who works around him just adores him too, everyone in the hospital knows him. I hear "your doctor is Dr. Finger? He's a great doctor!" over and over from other practitioners.
I'm really lucky to have had him for my uro. I think I would have given up by now except for him.
Blessings, Lori
