I have just begun doing home instillations of heprin, marcaine, kenalog & one elmiron tablet. I have to use xylociane and a B&O suppository 20 minutes before. I take elavil, atarax, elmiron and uristat. My doc just added gentimycin to my instills because they are two times a week. It is costing me $210.00 to do these for 10 treatments. I am in severe pain with major urgency after an instill for about 20 hours (I've counted so I know when the end is near). I had my urethra dialated to help - because before I couldn't go at all after an instill for two days. It seems like I am going through so much to just make myself worse. I am allergic to most pain meds and the B&O supps make me ill. Am I doing something wrong or is this just par for the course?

Oh heavens 20 hours of pain after doing a treatment I couldnt stand that maybe the doctor needs to change your treatments maybe the heparin isn't right for you.
I really hate to say that because heparin and marcaine has been a miracle drug for me
but my cocktail is only heparin marcaine and water. mixed thats it! the marcaine is a nerve block that should numb your bladder as soon as it hits it shouldnt cause any more pain!
Please let your doctor know how your feeling.
my inc. pays for my treatments and i do them up to three times a day as needed as long as i don't have a uti or my mthly i just don't like to do them that time of the mth.
but the sad part we are all diff. and just because one thing works for one doesnt mean it will work for another.
I will be praying for you there is no since in having to hurt that long after a treatment.
i have been doing mine now going on eight or nine mths.
sending you hugs and prayers
Rhonda
