I find that a few days before I get my period and during my period my symtoms flare. Does anyone else flare during PMS or is this in my head? Thanks =)

Thanks Dixie...
I love my dr., but this is such a great resource to find out what other people are really going through.
=)
Hormones definitely play a part in some people's flares. Definitely not in your head. :)

Those hormones can play nasty tricks. My IC pain got so bad, I was finally put on birth control continuously. It has helped a great deal.

The pain you are feeling is soooo real. I go through it each month. Usually the week before my period I get to burning and cramping, the day before and the day of my period I am pretty much useless to anyone and most people just try to avoid me. I'm pretty sure it's the hormones that are raging inside of us that set's this thing off. I usually start feeling a bit better the 2nd day of my period.

A week before my period I have the most painful flares. It has to do with the hormones fluctuations. I try and use the heating pads but it usually needs some heavy pain meds. Luckily I am going to see a new uro and hopefully one that's comfortable with treating my pain too. Really it's bad enogh we have periods but to have the horrible pains too..... I used to think I was crazy because I'd cry so much and wouldn't be able to do anything around that time. I had no idea I had IC for a long time. So I did get perscriptions once in awhile for T3 because the pain got so bad it'd send me to the ER. My hubby is very understanding but thought I was exaggerating because he'd never seen someone react this way from thier period. I used to get those looks from everyone because they thought I was seeking attention or being a baby about it. Thank goodness I finally have a diagnosis that proves it's not in my head!!! It's not in your head either. If it gets to be too much ask for some pain meds. I'm so glad I found this site as well. Just for the fact that my feelings were immediately validated was such a gift to me. Take care - Chris :)
