I have a question for whomever can answer it

Ok...I was dx 8 years ago with IC and I feel I know quite a bit about it....but I have a question that needs to be answered. Someone I know and just met told me he has IC and he was dx 2 years ago with IC...he says however that by the time he was dx with it it had turned into cancer..i guess....he is 31 years old and has a lot of other problems....my question is have any of u ever heard of IC causing cancer or turning into cancer...now don't get me wrong...i want to believe him but he's the type u just can't.

All of the current research states that there is no link between IC and cancer. So, while it may be possible to have IC and cancer at the same time, the IC will not cause cancer.

Nope. I have NEVER heard of ANY link between IC and cancer.

He could have bladder cancer they always check for this while doing the test but its not linked to IC. as far as my research has lead me. My doctor which is very wise has also told me that ic does not cause cancer but anyone could have both but there not linked together.

My father had bladder cancer --- and had many of the same symptoms as I had when I developed IC --- it was very frightening. I discussed this with my urologist and he immediately scheduled me for testing to rule out cancer. He explained to me that, while the symptoms may parallel, IC does not cause cancer, nor does it turn into cancer. That was 29 years ago.
