I am debating on making a roast for dinner. I will just do it in the crockpot. No pepper or seasonings as usual. Just the meat and the water to mke juice. Then I will throw in the potatoes. Is that ok? I am so new at this...I cant remembre what is ok and not..Thanks

Hi, Marlana, it should be okay! No acid there or spices. But it's such an individual thing, you know?

For instance, yogurt is supposed to be a no-no on the IC diet but I find that I can tolerate yogurt just fine.

Other things, that are not supposed to irritate my bladder, do.

So each of us kind of has to note our own reactions as well as reading the IC diet. Some people do an elimination diet so that they can figure out exactly which items bother them and how much.

But I think meat and potatoes are pretty safe, I haven't heard much about bad reactions from them.

Blessings, Lori

Oncre agan, you are a tropper. In so much pain and you still cook. How long has it been since you took your percocet? How are you doing? Do they knoclk you out or are you able to stay awake with them? Maybe if he can give you 3 a day or something, you will be able to heal a bit and let the elmiron kcik in. Have you tried the elmiron instills. I hear those work great. I also read on site here somweher, that some drs have found an instant instill that help pain immediatley upon it. I will try and llok it up for you. take care. I have been trying to clean my house all day and just getting noweher.e One kid is in Branson , Mo with my parents. They love to travel with her, one outside acting like a power ranger and one decided she needed a nap. What lives they lead...i wish I was that fortunate...good kids though..

Hi...I think with a chronic disease you just grin and bare it, you figure you still have to do the minimum, like cook and get groceries and do at least some housecleaning.

Your spouse gets very tired of you being sick, they start thinking you are using it as an excuse. Or even if they do believe you are in pain, they simply don't care, they don't want to be inconvenienced. My husband is wonderful in many ways, but he is completely devoid of compassion. So there is a lot of pressure on a person to try to be "normal" even when they are flaring.

I haven't had to take a Percocet since about 11 P.M. last night, thank goodness (gotta make those pills last, LOL!)

I would love to try an Elmiron instill, or lidocaine or anything but my uro doesn't do those. Doesn't believe in them. You'll find that each uro has his own diagnostic tests, and therapies, and you can not reason with them, they have set ideas and that's that. If you want a different test or therapy, you have to go to a different doctor. You know, just like your urogyn who didn't want to do a potassium sensitivity test on your or hydrodistention? They have their minds made up and you can't reason with them. Doctors are a lot like gods in that way.

For a person in the civilian world, unless they have a horrible HMO or on medicaid, they can go to a different doc. Not so here in the military health care world. You can wait a year or two and hope the doc rotates out.

But honestly this doc is sooo much better than my first uro who refused to even let me try Elmiron because he believed IC was a disease that was all in my head and that we were malingerers and attention seekers.

I'm drinking so much water today I'm almost sick from it, LOL trying to just flush out any bacteria that might be in my bladder because I read a theory that low levels of bacteria (not enough to qualify as a real UTI on the test) can cause a lot of symptoms in IC patients. In fact it advocates antibiotics for patients just for that reason, to give symptomatic relief.

I also ordered a bottle of this stuff called**** that is supposed to be good for relieving infections without antibiotics, have you heard of it?

How are you doing today? Have you been having to go alot? Or are you pretty much back to more or less a normal voiding schedule now?

Blessings, Lori
