Thanks Sharon,
After 6 days of dia., it stopped. I had appt. this am w/ gastro. which I cx. since dia. stopped I thought I'd be ok. Well i've noticed for last 3-5 days that when i pee only a drop or 2 comes out and it's not too often. and since i was feeling so awful and absorbed w/ just getting off the pot and back to bed w/o passing out i just kinda put to back of my mind. then tonight my leg and foot are real swollen and i can still just pee a drop or two at a time, mind you no dia. since thurs. pm but now i'm really nauseaus and don't want to drink anything. needless to say i think i have a temp and need fluids and that leg, foot is retention and that i need to be cathed. even though i'm not a dr. sometimes i try to self diagnose. i did phone my uro and we got off on the wrong foot bc i told him about all the dia. and he immediately said i'm dehydrated, before i was able to tell part about not peeing.
i took sleeping pill and pray i will sleep and all this will go away. otherwise do you think i should go to er? i hate the hospital.
thanks,
julie

Yikes... I hate to say it but if you are retaining that badly, it may be time for a trip to the ER to be cathed. I know nobody likes the ER, but retention is really dangerous. In addition to being a breeding ground for bacteria, if it goes on for too long your bladder can get so full the urine starts backing up into your kidneys... that is not good!

You need medical attention. If you don't have an urgent care center, then ER is an option if you can't reach your doctors.

Dear Friends,
I have been getting up several times during the night so thirsty and trying to pee. I've been able to pee a little more w/ the water running. Do you think I can keep trying to fix this or since it's so early, go to er?
Thanks, Julie:toosh: :toosh:

Please don't mess around with this. You need to seek medical attention as soon as you can. I know you feel awful and the last thing your want to do is get in a car and go anywhere but you need to see a doctor. Your body is telling you that something is very wrong. If you dehydrate you are going to become so weak that you will be putting yourself in the way of all kinds of bacteria and infection and who knows what else. Please, please, please go to your local emergency room, doc in the box or whichever is closest. If you can't drive, then call an ambulance. Your life may just depend on it.

A friend took me kicking and screaming to the er after both my uro and gastro said to go. First they drew blood, then cathed me. Mind you, I've never NOT been able to pee. Well great news, dr. said only 420 cc came out and all labs were normal so since i felt ok he sent me home. dr. said if i wanted he could do several tests that probably weren't necessary and my answer was NO. I told him i just don't understand how if i've been drinking a ton how come more urine didn't come out? SINCE he expected at least 2x that his reply was since i was probably dehydrated from 6 1/2 days of dia. that those fluids i had drank for 2-3 days took care of dehydration and the reason i didn't have to pee is bc there was no fluids took care of dehy. doesn't make sense to me, does it to anyone out there? As long as i got to come home i was happy as could be.
my reg. check up w/ uro is wed. and i did get a copy of ALL the labe work to give him. i've been able to pee w/ great difficulty, water running and over 20 mins. waiting.
i think med. bella donna did this to me, it's med. for stomach cramps that i take along w/ lomotil for dia. bella donna information sheet said it could cause difficulty or cessation of urine. I just love playing dr.'s I love my drs. soooooooooooooooooo much more than one in er.
ok, this is over and we shall move forward. you all that urged me to get medical attention should be happy and I do know it was the right thing to do, despite not wanting to.
Thank you for you kind words of wisdom and caring,
Julie:kiss:

I'm glad you saw a doctor. And actually, for some ICers 420 cc's would be a full bladder plus!
Sending warm healing thoughts,

I'm still having difficulty peeing, but after a LONG time can, but not as much as i think is there. i see uro wed, i guess i shouold call office mon. and bring up to par, huh? Also, my rt. foot continues to swell for some unknow reason. i did NOT hurt it at all and have no idea why it is swollen. seems like swelling is going up my leg.
i see my gastro wed. :toosh: :toosh:
what is going on w/ me? this is so strange, never been sick like this bfore.
thanks for your ideas and suggestions, julie
