Hi all,

I have not been diagnosed with IC but I'm kind of guessing that this is my problem. My symptoms started full on back in March and I have basically been in pain ever since. Sometimes it's better, sometimes it's worse. Lately it has been worse. I see a specialist on June 30th. That appointment has been the only thing keeping me going for a long time now.

Anyway, I met a friend of a friend who is trained in reflexology. For those of you unfamiliar this is the idea that certain spots on your feet are tied to different organs in your body. Stimulating those points on your feet can help restore circulation to the corresponding organs, supposedly. This woman took my foot and poked around in the inner arch area.

When she hit the "right" spot (i.e. the bladder spot) I HIT THE ROOF in pain. She was not applying much pressure at all, it was a little bizzare. She said this indicated a problem. She told me to start by massaging my foot in that area, applying enough pressure so that it hurt on my foot, for 5 minutes a day on each foot. This was on Sunday, it's now Wednesday night. She warned me not to overdo it, because I would get a massive headache from the toxins being released.

Well, I didn't think I did it for too long, but yesterday afternoon I had a splitting headache. But, today I feel a tiny bit better! I don't know if this is a fluke or what, but I'm going to keep doing it. I figure I don't really have anything to lose by rubbing my foot for a few minutes a day, right? Has anybody else heard of this or tried it?

I do use reflexology for things.....I do think it helps and isn't too hard to do......I know what you mean about those reactions.....and then your job is too massage them out....not always easy to do but when you keep at it ....success slowly comes. :welcome: :welcome: to the boards. I hope you don't have IC but if you do doing all you can to feel as good as you can helps a lot in the long run I think.

Keep massaging your feat!!!

Take Care:kiss:

I have some experience with reflexology. Many years ago I had it done and it was painful for me. Many areas of my feel were very tender. The therapist told me to work on those areas often until the sore areas got better.

I did some more research and got a book so I could learn which parts of the foot indicated the parts of the body. I learned to do it myself. It really did help, especially my acid reflux problem.

Actually, I don't like massage therapists to work on my feet because they are too rough. When I do it, I can control just the right amount of pressure. It should hurt a little, but not bring you to tears. lol

Thanks for reminding me about reflexology. It's been a while since I used it and it might come in very helpful at this time.

The book I have is called "The Foot Book" by Devaki Berskson. It was written in the 70's. There are charts that show parts of the foot that represent parts of the body. This book might be availabe at the library or on Amazon.com used.

Oh that is interesting. I am trying acupuncture right now but I do not think it is doing anything for my bladder because I am still having frequency but it works for my stress.
