I received a letter from SS and they are sending me for a mental exam. I am glad to see they are doing something. But was wondering what will I experience at this exam.

I didn't go that route, but I do know it's routine procedure.

I'm wondering if you listed any sort of mental illness on your application (depression, etc.). I'm starting this process & I am bipolar & listed this as one of my ailments & am wondering if I will have to have a psych evaluation by SS also. I know that I will pass (or fail - whichever they call it) because I'm crazy as a loon. :loco:

Good luck!

Good Luck and don't stress over it.

THe doctor I am currently seeing has already given me the mmip2 test. He is behind me 100%, so I am sure it is just routin. As far as IC is concerned it does give me alot of depression. Mentally how can anyone deal with much else. I find it very difficult to concentrate on much else besides my health. I will let you guys know how it goes. I go July 1st. Thanks for all the support!!!

After going through long process of applying for Social Security, I was told -Yes-I am "disabled" enough to qualify for SS, but-No-I couldn't receive any SS payments because I'm 1 "work credit" shy. I got too sick, too soon, they said and I can't even appeal. You can appeal if you are turned down for medical reasons but not if you don't have your 24 work credits with most of them being in the last ten years, and now I am much to sick to work at all. I contacted several SS lawyers & they all said that nothing can be done for my situation.

For mtpockets: If you haven't already, ask about the program for disabled people who don't qualify for regular Social Security disability. I had an aunt who collected for twenty years and never worked even one day for pay.

I appreciate the helpful suggestion, & I know the program that you are referring to which is SSI, but unfortunately I can NOT get that either because my husband is disabled and already receivies regulare SS Disability which they informed me in writing makes me NOT elible for SSI, known as Supplimental Security Income which is SS for people who did not work. Thank you for trying & I will appreciate any other helpful suggestions

Well I went for my mental exam for ssd today. I was there for every bit of 15 mins. I answered a few questions. He had me repeat numbers back to him..then repeat them to him backwards.
He gave me 3 words to remember. The first time I didn't remember. I couldn't get the numbers repeated backwards either.. and he ask me what the phase..."don't cry over spilt milk" meant. Maybe there is a hidden reason for this procedure...his office was full of clutter...the trash was overflowing. I also could not clearly understand him....and to think his report will probably determine my case.

Even tho I'd been seeing a shrink for years and he clasified me 100% disabled, SS still sent me to their shrink. He was very put out by the fact that my dr had already declared me disabled and they sent me to him anyway.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you should use the depression to your advantage. Use every thing you can think of. It will not weaken you case.....the more disabilities you have, the better chance you have of winning.....my depression was the final reason that I was approved.

wishing you the very best:kiss:
