I believe I can post that I am finally in remission with this thing. Thanks in a big part to my uro. 60 mg of oxycontin/day has helped considerably. I am grateful he was trusting enough to prescribe this drug. Otherwise, I really don't know. I got worse after an abdominal surgery in 2002. take care all and have faith....

I've never heard of pain meds putting anyone in remission. Pain meds control and reduce pain. Happy though that you are feeling better

Pain pills sure made me feel a whole lot better when I took them. I took Ultram everyday for my pain, I had to quit taking them, they make my acid reflux flare up. And since I have been off of the pain pills, I am miserable!!!

It's so good to hear that you are feeling IC free!! My Vicidon doesn't seem to be working as good as it used to. Maybe I need to take more. I'm always worried about running out and then I have to deal with my Uros "gatekeepers!" :dizzy:
:grouphug: I'm glad for you Mallena! :grouphug:

Mallena, I am so happy for you. I wish I was there as well as all of the rest of my ICN family. Do you mind if I ask you what kind of meds you are taking, if any besides the Oxycontin, as well as what kind of treatments/procedures you have had done. Thanks, BigFig

Mallena - Thats AMAZING!!!
Could you state your previous symptoms and currently how/what you feel.
marsi - I guess when you have pain, you go more and can't hold pee in long so when the pain is eliminated, she does not have to go as much and maybe gives her bladder time to start healing. (That is my opinion/guess)

I think that no matter how the pain is reduced, it helps the bladder nerves remember what it's like to feel normal, and then they somehow go in that direction after some time. Maybe that's what the oxy did for you. I think that's what lidocaine instills do for some people.

What Marsi was trying to say is the word remission really does not apply here. Remission to me is when you are pain free without medication. It's more correct to say pain meds are keeping IC under control.
I am also very happy for you.

That's what I meant. Thank you Ginny. Whatever takes away the pain and allows us to function is the closest thing to remission or feeling normal. I,m currently on 20mg of Oxycontin and it doesn't relieve my pain. I,m in the midst of getting into another pain clinic and hoping my new doctor is kinder and able to better control my pain. I'm truly happy that you are feeling much better and hope I will too with adequate meds.
