I got a chance to speak with the person that use to host a support group in Asheville but is no longer active. She said there were a few members that were very active for a long time but slowly they all went there own ways. If anyone is interested in organizing a new group please let me know. I get email updates if I get a PM here so I will know right away. If we can get atleast three to four willing to meet I don't mind heading it up. I hope to hear back soon from a few of you.

Thanks

I would like to attend a support group. I live at High Rock Lake, Lexington, NC. and Winston Salem is about an hour from my house and so is Greensboro. I appreciate your interest in heading up a support group. I tried to get a group from Dr. Evans office to meet once a month in Winston Salem but it just didn't work out. Please keep me in the loop because I think we need each other. Thank you again, Cyndi (Blazer)

Hey, Cindy,
Just thinking out loud here but do you think if we set up at least one meeting or support group in the middle of the state some where that we could pull off getting a few will ingredient to travel? Maybe even map out where all that are interested are and find the one closest to the middle and go there? Like I said, just thinking out loud.

That's why I mentioned Winston Salem because maybe if the meeting was located where Dr. Evans office was,(and I know a lot of people travel great distances to see him) they would be more likely to attend. It might be even possible in the future for them to schedule appointments on the same day we met. That way it would be more convenient and they might attend more regularly. There are many many places to set up meetings in Winston Salem close to his office.

Where do you live?

First off, sorry about the typo with ingredient instead of agree. Auto correct on the cell phone. Winston Salem might be ok as long as it is the middle for everyone. I am in Canton which is about 30 miles from Tennessee on I-40. It would not be that fair if the farthest east a person lived that wanted to meet was already Winston Salem. Make sense? Maybe what we need to do is first find out who would like to meet and then how far they are willing to travel.

Good thoughts. Why don't we post a "NC meeting?" and see how many responses we get. Since you have sort of spear headed this thought process I think you should post something and see what kind of hits you get. I'll follow your lead and if it looks like Winston Salem is the place to meet, I'll check into possible resturants or whatever after you decide if it is worth trying to organize a group.

Until then, if you do go to Dr. Evans, why don't you let me know when (I just saw him and won't be back in his office till Oct.) and I'll meet you in Winston Salem. If a support group is out of the question, I would love having someone to talk to about IC. I don't know anyone who has it and this forum is my connection to other sufferers.

I can drive to Charlotte by myself if its not like smack downtown..would be willing to drive to statesville, surrounding areas...even asheville... I believe you and someone that sent me a PM would make 5. I told myself that 5 would be the magic number. I am out of town right now(the other wat in Tennessee) but when I get a chance I will look at a map and look up everyone. Then we could look at some place right in the middle of all of us.
Thanks

Rope Wrench, just checking in on how things are going with the support group idea. Keep me in mind. I could probably pull something together in Winston Salem or Greensboro or even Salisbury maybe for the meeting place. Keep me in the loop. Thanks, Cyndi

Hey Cyndi, (look, I spelled it right this time)

I missed counted. There are only 4 of us right now. But if everyone is game, we can go ahead and put a plan together. Looking as a map something close to States ville will be about the closest to the middle for everyone. There is me in Canton (just west of Asheville), you in Rock Lake, Sheri Ellen seem to be close to Charlotte, and OllieR just north of Greenville SC.
At this point I think the best thing would be to pick a few city's in the middle of all of us and have everyone MapQuest the distances and then go with the most even for everyone.
All of us know how much it sucks to be stuck in a car for too long and I don't want someone to be in a flare just trying to get to a meeting.
What dose everyone think?
