I have been going to my family for yrs and she has een helping me with pain meds. Today she told me that she is no longer treating people for chronic pain cause of the new laws that are being enforced now. She is semi retired and I believe she doesn't want to be bothered with all that now. But I feel so alone and scared now. I have noone to talk to about it. I have been crying all day and I am tired of fighting and tired of dealing with this stuff. I feel noone has my back. I don;t know who to go to. I really don't want to go to Pain managment but that is who she will be referring me to. I don't want to go there and get the run around cause they are not educated on IC. Does anyone know a good Dr for this in Louisville KY. I am afraid that I am not the only one in KY that is going through this right now due to the new laws. Doctors don't want to deal with it so they are sending patients away. This is scary for me I feel hopeless right now.
Everyday is a struggle already.
Sorry for being down but I really needed to talk and get some advice.
Gosd Bless you all!

Hello Lisa:hi:
I am so sorry for the pain and suffering you are going thru right now :( How can these doctors get away with not treating people with chronic pain it just makes me so mad. I am not sure of the laws there but I am in your same boat here in Okinawa Japan my family doctor has helped me for a while but now my uro stopped her from treating me since pain meds are not givin to IC paitients however she has yet to give me meds that an IC patient needs:loco: I would just go to the pain management doctors to see what happens from there, I truly hope it helps you.

Lisa,
I am from Lexington, KY and not familiar with any Louisville doctors. However if you use the IC doctor finder link (http://www.ic-network.com/md/listings/Kentucky.html), it looks like there's a Women's Center for Gyncology and Bladder Disorders and a Pelvic Pain Regional Specialty Center. It sounds like both of these would be great places to start if they're in your insurance network. It's always best to find a doctor who is familiar with IC over one who is not. Hope this helps a little and you'll have to let us know if you find a good doc :)

Hi Lisa, I'm Kathleen, I am from Louisville and I have a wonderful doctor who has been helping me though this whole thing. It was by chance I found him but his office is one of the best. It was actually him who discovered the IC after spending almost a year and half trying to find out what was wrong with me. Their office is great pretty much I can call if I am in a flair and get seen right away. My doctor is Dr. Robert McQuady and is wonderful. His info is at the bottom. I would try and give their office a call. Also feel free to message me if you want some support. I sometimes feel really lonley going though this because I hardly know anyone who deals with IC.
Hope this information helps.
