Hi all. I'm in total pain and stuck here at work for 2 more hours. I can't leave because of the probation thing and I wasn't able to come in yesterday at all. I am so sick of all this stress - I know that is definately part of the whole problem. Thank god, it's an instillment night as maybe that will help curb some of this pain.

I had a 3 day rest from the pain and now it's back in full force again. Does anyone else have kidney pain (flank pain) with their IC. That's where the majority of my pain is today.

I tried to cheer myself up with a shopping spree today and ended up spending way too much money. So now I have another major bill to pay. Nothing makes you feel better with this darn IC not even shopping. I'm gonna take a pill and try and stick it out for the remainder of my shift.

I often get flank pain but not at work....(I dont work)...heating pad and pain meds is what I use...but since the pain meds are not going to help you at work and it would be hard to use the heating pad at work how about the thermo pads (?) I think that is what they are called. You can buy them at the drugstore. I have never used them but I know people have mentioned them on this site....also, drink lots of water...very important to keep yourself hydrated....hang in there:kiss:

I know of others that speak of flank pain. Sorry you have to suffer while at work...I know that just makes worse....I mean it is hard enough to do what I like to do when in pain or the basics to survive like get up to the bathroom and layback down....but to have to work is even harder.
Get Better soon.

I have major back pain with my IC!

I use Therma Care Heat wraps, they are absolutely the best. Don't buy the kind that stick to your clothes, the ones that wrap around you work better!

Drink lot's of water, it helps with the burning!

Lets make it clear: I am not talking about back pain. Or that area pain.

I sometimes have real kidney pain, like small spasms, Its a real difference from back pain.

In december I had to be admited to hospital after retrograde pieloscopy, because I had a major kidney attack. That was still back in Slovenia. My BF was just there and he stayed with me in hospital for 4 days, during the nights the nurses gave him an extra bed, otherwise I would go crazy. A week after I got out and the pain was gone, I packed my bags with the help of my BF and I moved to Holland. I got another 3 pain attacks in kindeys afterwards, but nothing like that first one. Since then I feel small spasms here and there but luckily its better. Im always afraid that if I say its better that it will get worse again, so.... lol... pray that I don't get anyof those anymore, ok?

But yes, kidney pain, BAD! Not back pain, real kidney, as in organ pain. Spasm, Attack. Bad! But maybe mine were from appendix being inflamed and Endo in it. I don't know...

Well...I was talking about actual FLANK pain and that is what I do for it....If you have to be at work I guess you can't take pain meds or use a heating pad but that is what I do...and yes I get FLANK pain bad like I am ready to go to the ER....not much I can do but take my meds, use the heating pad, drink lots of water and wait it out until it passes...my doctor feels mine is just from the IC but if you are concerned talk to your doctor...

hopefully that helps...hang in there

I hope you are doing better. Also, I hope you consider trying the heat wraps, they are my lifesaver!

Im at home right now and strangly, I feel pain where my appendix was so I have a VERY hot water bottle on my belly, lol, the skin is all red already. I don't want to take a painkiller because its not THAT bad and I am at home, AND I am trying to clean my body of painkillers a little bit, I've been taking them now on and off for like half a year now.

The heat really helps with pain, doesn't it?
