Hi fellow Ontarians,

I just found this section of the site... I've already posted a couple of questions elsewhere, but I'm happy to find some more local support!

I have not actually been diagnosed yet. I'm now on about week 6 of whatever this is - but am strongly suspecting IC. Though it seems unbelievable - really out of nowhere. My symptoms began after a pelvic u/s which was for a different reason (all clear), though of course I have no idea whether the u/s is related to the problem... In any case, my GP is puzzled, and I now have a referral to a urologist, but I'm really wondering whether that will be the right person to see. I'm in the Ottawa area, so one question I have is whether anyone knows of a specialist of any description who is familiar with IC/IC-like symptoms, or if anyone has any local experience or advice on the diagnosis front. Since getting a referral, and then getting in to see the specialist, takes a while, I'd love to get it right...

My other question is about Pre-lief. I've just been reading about it, and I saw some references saying it's not available in Canada. Does anyone know whether that is still true? The posts I saw were from several years ago. I am considering trying it out. Has anyone had success using Pre-lief? My symptoms are not unbearable so if it is IC, I guess it may be a fairly mild version, but since 2 months ago I was 100% healthy, I am feeling fairly miserable even so... I've been more or less following the diet - definitely no coffee, tea, alcohol, tomatoes... and I think it is making some difference, but if taking Pre-lief would mean fewer diet modifications I'd be very pleased.

I was feeling much better last week, but the past few days the symptoms have returned, so I am feeling a bit anxious about where I'm headed...

Hi there,

I have used Prelief (ordered through the ICN shop). I don't take it on a daily basis, but have found it helpful when I am traveling and eating out, and in less control of what I eat. I hope it helps for you too.
