That is interesting. I do coctails, heparin, marcaine and sodium bicarb. I, like you have been doing them 3 times per week. I havent heard anything about that. Sometime I wish I could do them more often as they are very soothing to me.
Do you have any more information on this?

When I did heparin at home, I started out with twice a day for the first month --- then cut to once daily and from there gradually extended the time between.

IcnNina,
I have a paper that the doctor gave me that has this new study on it i have search the internet to find the same study and i havent been able to find it yet here. but do have the paper at home. it doesnt have alot of information on it just the study of how it is to be used. and some cases that was reported with it others has done well on this one to three times a day but i havent meet anyone else who does this.
I have went into remission with these treatments. only time i feel alot of pain now is when mother nature calls and i believe then i make up for all the pain I didn't have threw the mth it is awful!

the way the uro has me to use it is 1ml heparin 2 bottles of Marcaine 10 ml and 20cc of steril water mix then put into the bladder with clean cath.
Do you are Donna have any type of side effects using this???? I fine that i'm getting a little sore using the cath so much. that is one reason i went back down to one a day but find if i don't use it my bladder will start to flare frown

Rhonda,
Can you tell me what Marcain is? I do instills of elmiron and I use the 2% lidocaine (sp?) injections. Is the marcain something you put in the mix? I am going to ask my uro about it as well. Thanks, Brenda

Marcaine is a longer acting form of lidocaine basically.

Brenda, that would be perfect!
I do instillations once a day and sometimes inject lidocaine jelly into my urethra or put it on the catheter, but pain is pain and it is still there anyway...I use marcaine, sodium bicaronate and heparin daily. It burns going in but within 10 minutes I am painfree. Too bad it does not last longer than an hour, but i will take what I can get.. Does anyone else leak after instillations? I usually have that problem the rest of the day.
