Hello everyone! I have been waiting a couple weeks to post how my surgery went on May 24th because I was waiting to see if it helped or not. The uro did a cysto/hydro/biopsy & lazered my trigone in hopes of deadening the nerves & I also had a Chlorpactin wash, which is a bleach-like substance that they left in my bladder to eat up the bladder lining in hopes that it grows back new. Well, I must say that this was the best surgery experience that I've ever had & I've had 7. Usually after a cysto, I have burning urethra & urine for at least a week or two. This time, it only hurt the first time that I went pee after the surgery. That in itself was a blessing to me. I still have labor-like pains in my bladder, though. I was really hoping that this surgery would take those pains away. I feel exactly the same as I did before the surgery. I'm trying to keep my hopes up, though. Maybe I haven't given it enough time to recouperate. Usually after a surgery, I feel worse before I feel better, so I'm hoping that feeling the same is my worse this time. I just thought that I'd let everyone know how this new treatment went.

Hi Karma!!
I have a support group in Mexico, and for 1 of the patient this is her treatment. In the begining she uses to have it every 6 months, and betwen the before last time and this one lasted 1.5 years
She told this to my Dr in one of our meetings and he was surpised because this treatmen used along time ago, but he was very interested and asked her her expedient, and he told me that is a very good choice for releif the pain
I´m schedule in 3 weeks for have my cysto/hydro, and may be he is going to try in me this, so I let you know!
Please continue keep us in touch, and I hope you will be fine very soon

Karma~I hope this works for you. One of my "X" uro's cauterized my bladder lining in hopes that it would grow back healthy and all's he did was put me in more pain........sending prayers that the exact opposite happens to you:kiss:

Blue, thanks for asking how I'm doing. I am not well now. I'm back to peeing 'broken glass' every 15 minutes & my 'labor' pains are still there. I'm getting very depressed. It seems to be that everytime I try a new treatment - I only end up feeling worse. I'm about to give up trying. I already consider myself disabled so I don't want to end up bed ridden. I just don't know where to go from here. The hydros usually help with my frequency for a couple months, but not this time. Actually, the frequency used to be at the bottom of my list of concerns - the PAIN was my major issue. Now the frequency has moved its way up the list to right under the pain. I have been dx with IC for 4 years now & it has never stopped me from living until this past year. I went from barely having any IC problems to having every IC problem maximized. A year ago, I had a life. But ever since I intensively sought treatment for my IC, I have become worse & worse. Now IC is my life & I feel locked inside my house. I am tired of suffering through life & I am scared to try any more treatments.
Please pray for me.

I´ll be praying for you!!
I think that the majority of us, have passed for your situation, and with time, and the work that your Dr and you do together, soon are going to find the best treatment in your case
I had the pain and frequency for 10 YEARS, and nobody listened to me. When I was diagnosed, 3 years ago, in the begining my IC was worse. And now, I feel good, with flares, but I´m doing my life again
I hope you can find the right treatment and continue again with your life

I'm so sorry to hear that you're feeling so bad. Did he tell you about how long it would take to start seeing positive results? I hope you start to feel better real soon. Take care - Chris

I'm really sorry to hear that. I know you've been through a lot and I was hoping this would be the answer for you. :( Is there something else that they can try? I'm sorry that nothing you've tried has helped. Hopefully someone will be able to help you soon. I'm here if you need to talk. I hope you'll be feeling better soon. Take care- Chris

Hi this is my first time posting on message board. I'm currently undergoing the Interstim Test and this is my 8th day of being hooked up to the Interstim. I have extreme frequency & because I need to urinate over 60 times a day I had very high hopes that I'd have lots of improvement. The doctor attached 2 leads to the sacral nerves. The left side has me still going about 45 to 50 times per day. The right lead did not work at all & caused excruciating back pain. In fact this whole ordeal has been much more painful than expected. I go back in 2 days to have temporary leads removed & I'll need to decide if I should go to next step which is the "staged implant" ...Can anyone who has underergone the test stimulator tell me if they experienced so much pain at the sight where the leads were inserted? Also did the permanent leads hurt more or less then temp leads? In September I was hospitalized for 16 days & I had major surgery due to complications of my IC, so by now I'm feeling so sad & discouraged. I've also undergone 6 years of series of bladder instillations, so I feel I've run out of options and am loosing hope for some relief.

Hi I haven't had any experience with them but I'm sure someone here will be able to answer your question. It sounds like you've been through a really hard time. I hope they find something that will help you soon. Hang in there. Take care - Chris

Hi MtPockets, I had two surgical procedures: 1) for the trial; 2) for the permenant implant. My frequency isn't as high as yours is and I'm no doctor, but I think that most physicians will only proceed with the next stage if you've had a 50% improvement or more. Plus, if you're experiencing new back pain as the result of this (and this is just my opinion) maybe continuing isn't in your best interest overall? Best of luck with the rest of your trial. Sending you all my best wishes, little bear

Hi Karma and Mtpockets, I'm so sorry to hear that you are both in so much discomfort (to say the least!). I know that it's hard to communicate when you're in such a bad way. Please know that we're all here for you--and that we're all sending you our very best wishes and hopes that you'll start feeling a bit better asap. Gentle hugs to you both, little bear
