Has anyone had the 30 minute bladder hydro with the Botox injections into the pelvic floor via the vagina? If so, what were your results? I am scheduled to have this double procedure done on Monday in Phoenix. I've had the Botox done 4 times before with positive results for pelvic floor dysfunction/Pudendal Neuralgia. I look forward to your comments.

Umm, I have never had a hydro, but from what I have read and been told by three different medical professionals is that the hydro can cause extreme pain. That coupled with botox I would think would be very painful. There is no way I would do both at the same time, I personally would never do a hydro after all I have read and been told. That is just me though. In any event, I would look into it and research it first. I wish you luck in whatever you decide to do.

Hi there,

To answer your question regarding Botox treatment into the pelvic floor and bladder, I've had it done 4 separate times over the span of a year and a half. Although my doctor does not "expand" my bladder or do a hydro at the same time when he goes in with the cystoscope, I have it done in the OR because it's not a pleasant experience to have that done awake with just a plain ole cysto. If it were me, I'd ask to do one treatment or the other because it would be hard to tell which one was helping you. Now I've had trigger point injections, not Botox but just steroids injected into my vaginal muscles awake with no anesthesia and that was quite painful.

I'd much rather be asleep during any bladder or pelvic floor treatment. As far as Botox helping with my PFD, it has helped in the past quite a bit. The first two times I had it done I was amazed at the relief in terms
Of pain that I had previously and spasm wise. But it doesn't come without side effects, retention is the biggest one of them all. If I were you I'd ask firmly the amount of units that your dr is injecting. I know from my experience and reading online that no more than 200 units should be used if you want to void harsh retention issues after the procedure.

As far as the procedure goes, its not too bad. You go to sleep, it takes about 30-45 minutes usually for me. Then I wake up and feel pretty sore , bleeding is normal when you void... Feelin sore days after is normal too. It took me about 2-3 weeks to actually finally see a change in symptoms, but overall I was happy I did it. But the last two times it had it done, it had not worked as well, which I've been told that my body is most likely becoming immune to it. But that is the case for everyone. I hope this helped some, good luck.

I had these 2 procedures done at the same time this past Monday under general. I was given a spinal then put on a Morphine drip so I felt no pain. I went home with a Rx for Percocet and only took one pill at home. My bladder has a bit more urgency but I have felt far better this week than I anticipated. So, for all the hype about the "pain", that is all hype. I say do it if nothing else has worked for you. Your pain can be controlled easily. I should feel results within 3 weeks. There is a 70% chance of success with the hydro according to my doctor's statistics. He is one of the few in the U.S. who do this procedure.

I wouldn't exactly call having Botox injections in your bladder a walk in the park... And refer to pain of the procedure as hype. The level of pain probably depends on how sensitive/ severe of a case your IC is. I know even with an IV drip of pain Meds after I can't barely move for almost a week. Everyone's different though.

Hi Hopewithin,
I was reading about your Botox experiences . I myself am scheduled the first week of March for Botox for PVD. I am so worried about the retention. Can you explain to me if you have had major problems with that and I will be sure to find out how many units are being injected. I see you have researched this and find no more then 200. Wondering how many you have had and did you have a major problem. Thanks for your help I have already had 3 prudential nerve injections and they were fine I was fully awake with no problem.
