I am vegetarian but I eat milk products. But not because of IC, I just can't eat murdered animals.

But I did found that since I am vegetarian (10 years now), my intergastion got so much better and have much more energy. Now all I have to do is get rid of this IC. I don't really like the diet, I don't drink alco and cofee anyway, but I am chocoholic. I can't do without that.

I didn't decide yet on that.

I suggest you just strike meat and fried food out of your meals at first. Also very spicy food or "hot" food and alco and drinks that have bubles in it (like coke). This are in my opinion number 1 enemy for bladder (and all the rest of the organs they touch).

And if you can do some sports, do it. It doesn't need to be anything big, even Joga is great for body and spirit.

I have been researching the IC and yeast connection, and it seems as if most literature tells that yeast overgrowth can cause allergic reactions and pain in digestive organs and elimination organs. So, i've started the yeast-free diet which restricts anything that produces lactose, glucose, etc. i'm slowly cutting out dairy and meat. i think that your doctor was right in telling you to cut out meat and dairy. I'm starting to think that many of the toxins in our bodies are leftovers from meat and dairy.
good luck and please let us know if your vegan diet works. i'm about to embark on it!
