Hi everyone,

Just wanted to post what I've been doing on my own - mainly as a response to leaky pee when jumping or sneezing etc. I know this is not the same as IC, but before I knew I had a cytocele from vaginal births I searched the market for items that could cure me of my leaky pee and so this is what I have tried so far:
KEGEL8, http://www.kegel8.co.uk/kegel8-ultra-vitality.htmlfor sale in the UK and now available to ship to the USA
Exercise DVD's: Total Control (US)http://www.totalcontrolprogram.com/Products/Total+Control+Workout+DVD, Filifit The core and the Floor (NZ)http://www.fitfitfit.co.nz/shop/dvds/filifit.html, and Hab it http://www.amazon.com/Hab-Pelvic-Floor-Tasha-Mulligan/dp/0510539610.
The kegel8, has been a wonderful tool, it takes about a year but it really tones up the vaginal walls and can teach you the difference between contraction and relaxation of the muscles. (see the Pelvic Floor & IC thread)http://www.ic-network.com/forum/showthread.php?t=68884. it does this by inducing a strong contraction followed by a period of rest. You can change the duration of the contraction to allow for longer contractions and also for more time in between contractions to give the muscles a chance to completely relax. When you get the setting just right you will feel the pull of the contraction and then the release of the muscles during the rest period. Relax.
Personally I don't think it can be harmful to strengthen your PC muscles and if someone can tell me a way to stretch them out after the workout that would be even better. I also do a "stretch away hip pain" dvd.

I hadn't heard that kegels could cause IC problems but perhaps the kegels were a contributing factor to my IC? Anyway, I wouldn't give them up and when the IC calms down I am very glad for the pelvic floor strength. btw if you are just trying to do kegels on your own, with no resistance or something for the muscles to press against there is a good chance that you could be tightening all sorts of mucles but not exactly the pelvic floor. :hi:
