The last two times I had an IC flare I went to Buffalo to see an MD who also specializes in holistic medicine. He gave me herbal injections of GH3 as well as glutathione and some other herbs and amino acids...I got better fairly quickly along with the IC diet and lots of ph water. Well I went again today since I started a flare Oct 11, 2011. I am glad I went ...after just one injection, my bladder feels better already...GH3 repairs damaged cells throughout the body and helps the body to heal itself....just wanted to share..I am not recommending any type of treatment for anyone other than myself....

I'd never heard of this so looked it up and this is what I found: GH3 is banned in the US since 1982 but I see you're from Ontario. It's main ingredient is an anesthetic, procaine (aka novocaine), which breaks down quickly to PABA and DMAE. It's marketed as an anti-aging product.

Donna, even tho it is banned in the US, I was surprised to see very little negative written about it in the bit that I researched, but it's proabably out there if you look for it. PABA is apparently considered fairly nontoxic, but DMAE is suspect in that it is used as an additive to paint removers and epoxy resins.
But at the same time who wants to go without novocaine or something similar during a dental procdure? These are tough choices!

Hi, thanks for the comments, I may have gotten the name wrong, not sure..but this doctor is in the USA in Buffalo. He is absolutely wonderful and really cares about his patients..he was chief resident at the hospital in Buffalo and has been touted as one of the best doctors there. He even helps people who have no insurance or money. I dont think he would give me something questionable..he also does chelation therapy as well as traditional medicine. I know that people are traveling from great distances to see him..I met another woman who had IC and she said immediately she obtained relief from his herbal shots. What I was told was that the herbal shot renews the cells and gets them to start repairing themselves as well as many other things. I also did get glutathione, inositol, germanium, proline and taurine for my bladder last year when I was in a flare. i cannot see it being any more harmful than taking prescription meds which in and of themselves cause side effects and are harmful to the body. He does also say you must change your diet and lifestyle and drink High PH water. I do not just want symptom relief I want to know why my body is doing this and how I can treat the cause. I firmly believe the body can heal itself given the right supplementation. I also believe that IC is not just about the bladder, but the whole body itself. I am going back in two days for additional shots. I am also doing PT therapy which has helped as well...I dont want to be here again and am going to do what it takes to get well and stay well. This flare was my own fault..i was eating horribly, not managing my stress and not drinking enough water. Boy, have I learned my lesson this time.

When you are talking about the herbs shot …are you talking about anything else or what you mentioned above? Are you taking anything else by mouth or the treatment is only injections? What the doctor said to you about the diet? I would like to know his recommendation. Was your IC mild or severe when you went to see him?

My thought on this is that if the FDA bans a specific substance, there MUST be a good reason for it --- they are so cautious and so slow in taking actions, including bans as well as approvals; I'll see what I can find on their site.

Hi I thought I would try to answer here as well. My first bout of IC was May of 2009, painful and debilitating to say the least and severe....I finally found out about Dr. B in Buffalo and went to see him...first thing I had to do was drink high PH water (Kangen). He provided me with a 5 gallon jug and told me to drink only this water and get on an akalizing diet right away. He has a Kangen machine and gives the water away for free to his patients. He also give me an injection of herbs and I immediately noticed a difference. So I proceeded to drive the 1.5 hours every other day and get injections which varied. The first shot I received was a proprietary one that he had found to be very healing to the body. (I am sorry to be vague but I did not write down exactly what was in the injection at the time). I do know that the injections contained germanium, glutathione, proline, procaine, and inositol and one injection I had was taurine. I also had regular colonics at his clinic. Detoxification of the liver is very important as per Dr. B. I also take cystoproteck, get pelvic floor therapy, accupuncture and chiropractic care. This last flare I tried all of the above without going for the injections, but was not seeing much improvement so Tues my husband drove me down and this injection was called GH3. I am going back Friday and am going to get the four this time (glutathione, germanium, proline and inositol). I am also going to get a colonic as this regime is what got me out of pain and flare quickly. Doc has told me that I must watch my diet and make sure my ph levels stay alkaline and not acidic. I only eat alkalizing fruits and vegetables primarily with a bit of chicken, rice and almond milk. Oh I am also taking high omega 3 with vitamin D. I hope this helps...I have also sent you a private PM should you wish more info. Dont hestitate to contact me. This is a debilitating condition! I am totally convinced that the herbal shots give the body the boost it needs to restore balance in the body. I cannot recommend any treatment however and can only share what has worked for me.
