Hi all, getting desperate here.

For all my adult life (20s to early 30s) I have suffered from chronic BV and yeast infections. They are pretty much constant - for example, I have been on antibiotics 8 times this year for BV, and have taken diflucan more times than that this year.

In the past, the pain caused by these infections kept me from realizing that I also had bladder pain (although I also get a few UTIs a year).

In August, a urologist did a cytoscopy and saw that my bladder has Hunner's ulcers, glomerulations, the whole lot. I immediately started the IC diet and pelvic floor physical therapy and started feeling much better. I also went the whole month of September without BV or a yeast infection. I was on cloud nine because I thought my problems were being addressed.

In October, I got BV again, and with it, tons of bladder pain. I was on metronidazole for 8 days, and my vaginal pain went away but the bladder pain got worse (my doctor had prescribed 10 days, but because of the pain we stopped at 8). Then I got a yeast infection. I tried treating it on my own, but that didn't work, so I took diflucan four days ago. It seems to have helped a little, but did not take the infection away, and I still have discharge. Here is the main problem, though:

Once I have any type of discharge (from BV or yeast) I have a major flare.

Other problems: with the infections, I can't really do the physical therapy. Also, I have very high levels of anxiety which become even worse when I have an infection, because I feel gross and unclean. Finally, sex is unthinkable.

I don't know what to do right now. I am miserable.

Does this happen to anyone else? Did anyone find relief in the short and/or long term?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
