Does anyone experience an increase in urgency and frequency just before their period? The last two days I have gone from peeing every 2-3 hrs to suddenly once an hour with terrible urgency. Haven't changed anything in my diet.

I'm 47 and peri menopausal. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I'm also coming down with a cold. Could this have anything to do with it?

Thanks!

Hi Suzi,

I experience a terrible increase in frequency, urgency and pain a few days before and a couple of days into my period. Same thing happens around ovulation. Wish I were younger - I'd love to take b/c that lets you skip your periods and see if it helped.

Sounds like me. Although, its not every period. My symptoms usually occur at night and usually involves me waking up anywhere from 3-10 times to go the bathroom. I often experience urgency, and lately have been experiencing pain w/ it. This may begin anywhere from a week before. It often occurs immediately afterwards as well.
I am 25 and have taken bc for years, but am stopping b/c it actually no longer regulates my period or my symptoms.
I try to deal w/ it by cutting off liquids a couple hours before bed.
Good luck!

Thanks for your replies! I wonder if some type of hormone replacement therapy would help. If hormones do obviously play a role surely something could be done to mitigate symptoms!

yes, yes, yes. Just about 6-7 days before my symptoms are so much worse. They usually get better a couple days before and then when I get my period they get bad again. I am getting used to it now.. it stinks though!

I agree...during ovulation and a couple days before and a couple days during my cycle is the worse. I am learning to live with it but I wish for younger days! :smile tee

Yep Im the same. I actually started to calculate the days now so that I am prepared for when my bladder will get cranky... I am getting used to it too... but yes it stinks.. lol

For me though I will have NO symptoms for most of the month.. about 22 to 24 days... (Unless I drink a huge cup of tea or something I am not supposed too).... and then about 10 to 12 days before my period I will have an increase in frequency and sometimes burning... and go from going pee normally 3-4 times a day to going pee about 10 times a day... (which is the PITS after being symptom free for most of the month).. its still a shock everytime...lol As soon as I GET my period or about three days sometimes (if I am lucky) BEFORE it I will have no symptoms again until the next month. I find it SO bizzar.

For example.... Last month I got my period on the 23rd of October. I had symptoms of frequency etc from about the 8th of October until the 18th of October and then they went away until this month in November, on about the 9th they came back. Right now I am dealing with a cranky bladder, but according to my "calculations" ....(and how it has been for the last 5 months or so).... it will smarten up on about the 21st or 22nd of Nov... so I am just counting down the days now 5 more to go!!...hehe. How IRRITATING.

Im not on birth control at all... I found that I was SO much better when I went off of it, but it did take my body quite a few months to regulate again, and finally get me to the point where I am now. I am hoping that the periods of time that I do have symptoms will just eventually go away.... I can dream anyways!!! haha

I experienced the same during my first couple of years with IC symptoms, they were totally tied with my cycle, definitely increasing the week before, then lessened the week of my period. But for whatever reason, after those first years my symptoms kind of evened out to the point that no certain time of the month was any worse than others.

You would think that with us woman because symptoms are so hormonally driven, there is something that could be done, treatment wise, to alleviate this. I believe I'm in perimenopause so I can't really predict when it's going to flare. It drives me crazy!
