I know how important using a lube can be, especially with all the medications, I could sometimes use a little help. I was just wondering what types everyone uses.

We used to just use KY on occasion when needed, but I would like to try something new and hopefully better. I have had previous problems with yeast infections and have read before that lubes containing glycerine can make you more prone to yeast infections. I'd like to try one that is glycerine-free. I'm also interested in the ones that are ph-balanced, as that sounds like a good thing.

I have read that some of you have reccommend Liquid Silk. Liquid Silk seems to have a lot of ingredients that I don't know what they are. I'm worried about upsetting my VV or getting a yeast infections. I've also read about Slippery Stuff, which is glycerine-free and ph-balanced. Has anyone used it before?

I'd love to hear about what types or brands that everyone prefers and maybe get some suggestions before I place my order.

Thanks,
Chrissy

We use Astroglide - but it has glycerin.

Hubby and I tried Slippery Stuff but didn't like it. We found that it was good at first, but it got very sticky very fast and actually made the friction worse for us. Maybe it works better for other people, but it wasn't our thing.

We like KY. One little hint --- get it in the small sizes so there is less chance of it being contaminated.

Thanks for the comments.

Sarojini - did you try the liquid or gel version of Slippery Stuff?

I was thinking of trying Slippery Stuff since it has so few ingredients, hoping that I wouldn't be sensitive to it.

To be honest, I can't remember which Slippery Stuff... it seems to me it was a liquid, but it was a while ago. My husband and I got this Lube Sampler Pack from Good Vibrations http://www.goodvibes.com), and it came with single use sizes of about 6-8 different lubes. It was a good way for us to try everything without buying a large bottle of it (a waste of money if it turned out we did not like the one we chose).

Anyway, there was a sample in there of Slippery Stuff, and I can't remember anymore if it was liquid or gel

I'm sorry!!

my bf and i are going out to buy a new lube tonight. The one we have right now (but quit using) is a peach flavord warming one. NOT GOOD for my urethra and IC. We bought it before I was diagnosed. I notice that sometimes when I would put it on it would burn...I dont know why. maybe i had a mild yeast infection at the time...? hmm.

I HIGHLY recommend Liquid Silk. yeah, it has a lot of ingredients but they're mostly different liquid waxes. It also is bacteriostatic, which means it prevents any bacteria from reproducing (and thus causing an infection).

It is very silky and sleek and STAYS that way.

We've tried about every lubricant that is out there and Liquid Silk is the best, longest lasting, doesn't have any smell, etc. most of the others get sticky really fast and some of them (like Aqualube, which we used to use regularly befor finding Liquid Silk) made the inside of my vagina sting. Liquid Silk also comes with a pump dispenser so you never touch the opening and it doesn't roll over and get dirty. We buy ours from good Vibrations here in SF, and you can get it online at www.goodvibes.com

Hi all I think I have tried them all..... and found AstroGlide the best it last a longt time and being a liquid its better, it also comes in a gel, but not nearly as effective.... KY jelly is ok and cheaper.. KY warming lotion is nice and feels good.. but its sticky, and it stains. I'll get the spelling wrong on this but I think you'll get it lol ;) trojan types of lub are not IC friendly, and it burned... there was one more but I can think of it ... hugs

Ok try not to laugh, but we use Crisco. I can't tolerate anything else as after they make contact with my urethra, in about 30 seconds I am on fire and it lasts for hours. Crisco is the only thing that doesn't bother my urethra. Not too romantic but hey, whatever works. Helpful hint: KENNEL THE DOGS FIRST! Don't ask. LOL Our first experiement turned out to be a much more interesting evening than I had planned on. Instead of one offer, my husband had five offers altogether with and without fur. It still remains one of our funniest memories.

Chynabell, what is DH?

Ok, I use the KY warming liquid. I bought a small bottle. Once I tried one of those flavored oils from one of those parties. NO WAY! It did not work! I've kind of don't like the warming after awhile. It was ok at first but, I think I'm going to try something that does not warm, smell, or taste!

Dianne, I have to laugh! It's to funny!

(P.S. I understand about the dogs!)

Astroglide is our lube of choice. I do recommend the sampler pack from Good Vibrations. Nice way to try out different ones.

Another weird food option for those interested.... We are currently TTC and have been told to use egg whites. Because some lubes can kill sperm. I haven't tried it yet though.

Dianne!

That is so funny about the dogs! I laughed! I have two cats and they are not fun when you are lying naked cuddling after and the one who is not declawed decides that she wants some cuddling too and jumps up on your hip or bf hip, she usually gets thrown off the bed pretty fast!

Update on the eggwhites.......

Actually they weren't very sticky & worked quite well. Egg White is most similar to our natural cervical fluid at the time of ovulation.

How funny! Did you prepare the egg whites ahead of time?

Melanie

The "preparation" was just to separate an egg (dispose of the yolk) and allow the eggwhite to warm up to room temp. It's not like I had to whip it up :bonk:

It's a bit weird, but it's actually what alot of fertility experts recommend if the woman isn't producing enough quality cervical fluid just prior to ovulation.

My husband and I have tried KY. We didn't really like it that much. We've found good luck with the generic version of KY usually offered at Walmart. It's only around 2 bucks and lasts a long time. It gives a good coating so there is not too much friction of direct skin contact (if that makes sense). Hope this helps.

Dianne, it's a good suggestion about the Crisco. I've never thought of that. Does it ever get up into your urethra? Ouch. On a different note, a 100 year old woman I know with the most beautiful skin I've ever seen told me she uses and has always used Crisco as a facial mosturizer. Go figure. :lmao: :woohoo:

I put the Crisco on him, not me and hasn't been a problem.
