I had my last cysto/hydro on 4/6/04. I have had IC for 15 years and have this procedure about twice a year. I have never had any problems until now. He did stretch my bladder more than usual (700cc instead of 400cc). I have had lower right-sided pain that gets worse as the day progesses. It also feels like someone is tugging on my urethra, but I am not having any burning. When I told my urologist, he did a U/A and said he couldn't find any infection and gave me a prescription for Darvocet. I then saw my internal medicince doctor because I thought it must be my appendix. He did a catscan (with barium and iodine), U/A with culture and numerous blood tests. He also said he could not find anything wrong. Prior to the procedure, I had an IVP done in March that was normal, too. The pain is driving me crazy!! Has anyone had any similar problems?? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there...

Well, I think that stretching your bladder to 700 instead of 400 cc might be part of the problem... that's a big difference for an IC bladder (about the size of a coffee cup-- not so big for normal bladders, but excruciating for those with IC).

It may take a while to recover.

I get pains on the sides too (left and right... but still close to where the bladder is). I know how annoying it is... and I take Darvocet too so I understand that sometimes that particular pill doesn't work that well....

I don't really have an answer for you, but I do hope you feel better very soon.

Warm healing thoughts,
