I have been recently diagnosed with ic, after many years of frequent urination ,ad being diagnosed with an infection. I was wondering if constant pain in the legs and sides were a part of this? i am taking elmiron and atarax, for 3 months now and can not stop this pain. My Uro thinks its my hips, but I been to numerous doctors and have been told several things. Does anyone know why?

Hi and welcome to the ICN:hi: ,
glad you found us . Sorry you have IC. It is hard to say why you are having the pain you are. I write all my symptoms down what I am doing when they happen how long it lasts and level of pain I was in from 1-10. I take it to all my appointments and it has helped me. I do hope your doctors can figure out what is causing your pain and hope your treatments work for you!

I suggest you see your primary care physician and ask about the pain you are feeling. You may need to have blood work done to see if you have a deficiency in calcium or potassium --- either can cause leg pain.
Warm healing thoughts,

I have tremendous back, leg, and hip pain when my IC is flaring. I can sometimes tell that I have eaten something bad when I have a burning in what seems to be my hip bone area. My dr. said that it's really from the spasms in the pelvic area but it shows up in other places. Also referred pain is a real problem for many ICers which is what I was told was happening to me when my legs hurt all the way down to my ankle during a flare.
I agree with the others I would check everything else out, keep a log and see if you can find a connection to the variables that affect your pain. This is a puzzeling disease that requires a lot of patients from our dr. and loved ones while we figure out our triggers and best treatments.
I hope you are abe to get some answers soon.

HI &:welcome: to the boards. Sorry you are in so much pain! My dr. also talks a lot about referred pain. I guess a lot of women get pain shooting down the insides if their legs. I had this for a short time, but it went away. Hope you know the cause of it soon! Hugs and prayers, Grace

:hi: and :welcome: to the icn board. i have had pains in my right leg before, but if this is a new pain I think you should see your family doctor about this problem to make sure what is going on. However mine was related to IC but that doesnt mean your will be too.
sending you hugs and prayers
