View Full Version : Do you have bladder spasms that result in suprapubic pain?

I have what has been diagnosed as bladder spasms. I get pain right about my pubic hair in the lower abdomen. They feel like menstrual cramps. Ditropan helps with these, but I am trying to take less of it...

My main question is- do you find that diet effects these spasms? I find that it effects burning and urethral/vaginal pain, but I'm not sure if something in my diet is effecting the spasms too?

Thanks

I am the same as you. The IC diet affects my burning & frequency, but doesn't stop the spasms. My uro has put me on Neurontin to help with the spasms & it has made a huge difference. You may want to ask your doc about it.

Neurotnin? MMMHhh. IS that an antispasmodic? What are it's side effects? Still dry mouth, decrease sweating etc?
Thanks. Glad to find someone who has something similar.:)

I get that lower abdominal pain a lot. In the late 80's I had it for over a year, went to several doctors and no one knew what it was. I usually take a Lortab and a muscle relaxer when I have it now. My uro said my bladder is having spasms when that happens.

An antispasmodic relaxes the muscles that are in spasm and causing pain. Getting those muscles relaxed does help get rid of the pain.

I definitely have the bladder spasms. They are much better now than even a week ago thanks to the Ditropan. The dr. told me to take it as needed, so maybe you wouldn't have to stay on it a long time. Anything to help take care of that pain. Good Luck to you!
