Hi
Has anyone tried Bextra???
I am going to try Bextra (valdecoxib) for the pain.. The Pyridium makes me to sick. I just want to get out of this stupid flare that has lasted about 3 weeks..
I tend to get an upset tummy with meds so will take it on full stomach..
grrrrrrrrrr!!!

Dear All, I know that many of us are in terrible pain and when there is absolutely no relief, it is easy to reach for anything and everything to try to get the pain to stop.

This week has been particularly bad for me and I took Ultracet with Bextra and had a very scary fainting episode. It was dreadful. No one told me I had to take these two meds 8 hours apart! (Apparently Ultracet doesnt mix well with Elavil either)

I'm lucky that I only took half the dose of the Ultracet or it could have been much worse.

So beware of how you're combining pain meds!

Take care and be well, Beth

Hi Beth.
Thanks for that info..That must have been terrible.. Hope you are ok now....
My pharmacist and Dr. are really up on what I am taking.. small does of Sinequan,
Elmiron and occasional Ditropan.
I am only taking one Bextra a day..only had two so far- I think I am a little bit better...
take care

Beth,
Thanks so much for giving us the heads up on what happen with your medicine scare. I'm glad you are all right and you may just have saved one of us from going through the same thing.

Take care and feel better.

Yeah, I've found bextra can take the edge off some of the pain and urgency sometimes. For me, it mostly helps when I have PMS - it keeps some of the bloating and menstral pain in check. And it's only one a day.

It's definitely better than other anti-inflammatories like vioxx, which did absolutely zilch for me.

I never had problems with ultracet and bextra together, but I thought I would freaking die the one time I took them about _6_ hours before I took Elivel - It woke me up because I was shaking almost uncontrollably. I also have low blood sugar and the shaking sent my sugar crashing - I ended up crawling on my belly to the fridge to get apple juice so I wouldn't go into shock. I about smacked my doctor for not warning me.Worst. Drug. Reaction. Ever. Hope you're feeling better, Beth!

Hi.
this has been a long flare but as of yesterday I am feeling better...going to take the Bextra a few more days just to make sure I am out of this flare. We are finally getting some sunny weather and that has done wonders in cheering me up.. My Dr told me to not take Ibuprofen, Celebrex or Advil as he thinks it might make the IC worse... I can't figure how one anti-iinflamatory can be bad and another one ok...
Have a nice week end!!
