I'm really new to IC- don't even know if I have the darn thing yet ( in the process of changing MDs and getting it all figured out). I started Ditropan about a week ago and was feeling pretty good (except for it's side effects which kind of stink) until I ate a cranberry roll yesterday-which really bothered me. I took half a Vicodin and I was feeling ok, and went out to dinner with my brother. We had sushi (which I eat a lot and hasn't bothered me in the past--even in the last week) and there were some spicy things, so that might have been it. However, when I came home and beofre I went to bed (about 3 hrs after I got home) I wasn't in any pain. And then this morning ( I was thinking about trying to go without meds- per my present MD orders 'try to go without whenever, and call me if you still have pain'--- Did I mention I don't really like this MD?) I am feeling pretty owey. Pelvic pain like I have my period (which I just finished) and some burning around the general area of the vagina/urethra.. Needless to say, I took my meds this morning and am thinking about taking a Vicodin (once I get to work) if the pain doesn't subside... I guess this is a flare?! Can I have a flare if I 'm not sure I have IC??
This is all becoming very comical- I'm glad I can laugh at the ridiculousness of this stuff. It's such a pisser- pun INTENDED!!!!
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
You may want to make sure you don't have a bladder infection. They do make home test kits that you can buy at your drugstore, or ask your Dr. to check your urine.

If this is IC, what you are describing could be a flare. There could be additives in the Chinese food you had last night.

Once you get yourself established with a urologist or a good MD. Ask them about IC and see if you can get a diagnosis.
Good Luck.

sure sounds like you have IC....Hope you can get a diagnosis soon, and start on some meds, and follow the IC diet. I could not agree more that IC sucks...I have been diagnosed for 3 years, and I still am having trouble with pain control. I wish you all the best in your quest for answers. Sheri:kiss:

Yeah, I had flares for a couple months before I knew what IC was. Hope that's not what you have. Hope it's a quicker fix. Good luck to you:) Grace
