Ok, this is just a fun thing, but i colored my hair red! Yesterday, I talked to my hair stylist about how I was frustrated that my hair was turning a not-very-nice shade of gray (not a lovely shiny silver, but more of a dirty pewter) and asked about coloring all of my hair instead of just highlights. So we colored it a dark auburn (kind of a deep red-brown), which was much darker than I've ever had it before.

When I woke up this morning & looked in the mirror, I kind of scared myself and all I could do was laugh thinking I looked like I'd fled town and joined the witness protection program. :loco: So I called her and said, "Um, I'm sorry, but I don't think I can get used to this - it's just too severe with my very light skin". She had me come back today and she added some gold/light red highlights and now I love it!! It was a little hard to be assertive and call and ask, but I thought she'd probably rather fix it and have a very happy customer, and she was. It turned out all right!

Ok, just a fun thing, but I've been very stressed lately and doing girl things like changing my hair or getting a manicure & pedicure does help. Shallow, I suppose, but the rest of my life has enough drama, that being a little shallow is great sometimes.

Kadi that's wonderful. It's not being shallow, we all need to do girlie things to help us through the day.

Hi, Kadi! Yay for you. That must have been great looking in the mirror! So glad things worked out great for you. We all need those pick-me-ups and by no means are your "shallow"....Enjoy your new YOU!!!!

Kadi,
That's great!
There's nothing like doing something for ourselves, just for the heck of it, to cheer us up when we feel blah.

Also good for you for telling your stylist that you weren't happy. I had a hard time with that too, and then finally did it, and to my surprise, my stylist said she was really glad I did.

Enjoy your "new" self, and have a good week!

That's great :) Welcome to Club Redhead! I've been an auburn-headed girl since college - I'd always had auburn lights in my brown hair when the sun hit it, and so I just did the whole thing that auburn color one day and everyone loved it... have never gone back :D

Welcome to the club- I have been a auburn-headed gal for the last 10 years or so. When I hit 40 (actually it was much younger but I kept chickening out of it) I wanted a change because my original color is a "dishwater blonde) so one day I was visiting my family and my sister (who at the time we just started to have a friend ship again due to her drinking) and we went to the store and got the color that I am now. In the meantime I was thinking ok I am letting this person who I really don't know anymore do my hair! Well it turned out very nice, I still get lots of compliments from strangers. My husband (he likes it but he keeps saying to me I thought we were going to grow old and gray together-- I tell him we are just that I am not going to grow gray thanks to Ms. Clairol!

Your post reminded me of when my hairdresser forgot to add the brown to my hair color mix and I ended up with bright red hair, and I mean red. I kept telling her that there was something wrong because the color was oxidizing to a bright solid red color with no brown. After a while I heard her yell Oh no! I forgot to add any brown! I looked like Bozo the clown. It took her two hours to get the color back to normal.
